Hugh McIlvaney mentioned it in the tribute he paid to him in the Sunday Times this week. Not straight from the horses mouth though. Although he did meet him once. Just saying that's where I heard it. Canny interesting character regardless. There's a class photo of his face I have of him in either The Photograph Book or the book that compiled photos from different 'Time' photographers that was taken in his heyday.
