Is there stories going that Glenn McGrath will retire too wellsy? Or is that speculation on your part about what's been happening off the field to him? I can see where you're coming from, and it would be a real shame for not just Australia, but cricket in general. One of the highlights for me of the last Ashes, despite the fact that I wanted England to win, was watching Shane Warne bowl. I've watched him bowl for 10 years, and if I could, I'd watch him for another 10. Incredible to watch. McGrath is the master too. Despite the fact that Warne and McGrath are key to Australia being the number 1 side in the world, I'd be sad to see either of them go after this series.

Stuart MacGill wouldn't be a bad replacement at all though.

Yeah that is the rumour from here;

Here

Also MacGill is older then i thought... he is 35 so he is coming to an end aswell, wow! A revolution in cricket and time for some of the younger spinners to step up now i guess.

MacGill must be getting on bit as well shirley?

(and he's nowhere near as good as Warne, but that goes without saying!)

Better record than Warne in Australia, although that could have changed recently.

Seeing as he mostly plays when they need two spinners, i.e. on spin friendly surfaces, I wouldn't read too much into that.

Warne takes his 700th wicket as he bowls Strauss for 50.

England 4/117 at Tea with KP and Flintoff at the crease.

Drizzly rain all morning but the sun is coming out slowly.

Boxing day is so boring...

I know it makes fuck all difference now, but Australians really are a a bunch of cheating convict c-words.

Yeah, and that's the only reason we're absolutely destroying your useless team. :calmdown:

Which makes stealing the tactics and broadcasting them even more pathetic. Can you imagine the Test Match Special team doing the same if someone gave them the Australian plans? Of course not.

Mind you, Fletcher already gave away our tactics with his book on how we won the 2005 series, the moneygrabbing twat. Not that this is a valid excuse for the Australians.

Erm, if anyone is still interested, England are 127-8. We're about to be humiliated by an innings. :calmdown:

You beat me to it! I was just coming on to say how nice it is to see England make a good fist of it this time!

C'mon Monty and Read :blink::D:D

Oh well, back to ratemy....... :icon_lol:

Not TMS but the sun would certainly make sure they were hand-delivered to Fletcher and claim "IT WOZ US WOT WUNNIT" in the event of a victory.

True enough I suppose. Being on a par with the Sun is hardly a standard a broadcaster should aspire to though!

"Steve Harmison doesn't even want to play, he's 29 he should be raring to go, but whats he doing, going back to watch Newcastle United, its stupid"

Fuck off Boycott, just because Harmy has his priorities right :calmdown:

I hope the useless c-word stays over here tbh.

I find the whole business with Harmison and his home-sickness pathetic tbh. You're a grown man ffs, stop behaving like a kid on a school trip.

Exactly. Anyway he should be nowhere near the England team after that first ball of the series.

Just thought i would bring this baby back up.

Sir Richard Branson is leading a campaign to keep the Ashes in Australia and the winner actually wins the right to keep them. This could be interesting and i agree with him completely.

On the field Flintoff scored 89 as England were all out for 291 and in reply Australia are 4/188 with Symonds and Hussey at the crease. Should be an interesting couple of days coming up.

The footage was funny this morning - 4 deliveries left in the day and Symonds decides he's gonna howk Panesar all over the place. Swings wildly at one which goes just over Pietersen's head. Cut to Ponting in the Pavilion sitting shaking his head.
