Tooj 17
What can be said when describing a man who scored 68 goals in 62 international appearances for a German team not known for their attacking flamboyance, a man whoscored 365 goals in 427 Bundesliga matches for Bayern Munich, almost 100 goals more than the second most successful Bundesliga scorer of all time, not to mention 66 goals in 74 games in European competitions for Bayern Munich. Whatever you've heard about Gerd Müller believe everything, the greatest European striker of all time in my eyes. This was a man who in 2003 was voted the greatest Bundesliga player of all time, that's right ahead of the mighty Franz Beckenbauer and a whole host of other German stars, Müller took this crown. Beckenbauer in the past has also been quoted as saying it wasn't him that made Bayern Munich the force they are today, it was down to Müller and without him Bayern would have been nowhere near the team they were then and have been since. When you looked at Gerd Müller on the pitch, he was short and stocky, not blessed with any real pace or any of the outstanding skills that are unfortunately highlighted so much today instead of an end product, and by did he have an end product, no doubt if he was around today he'd be underappreciated by the fans today who'd rather see a silky piece of skill than a well timed run and finish by Müller. He never seemed to fit the idea of your conventional footballer but for one so small his ability in the air was remarkable, his acceleration over a few yards was outstanding to make sure he took the quickest and most direct route to get into positions that seemed impossible to react to. That was what set Gerd Müller apart from the rest, his amazing anticipation and reactions inside the box, whenever a loose ball was dropping Der Bomber was there more often than not to pick up the pieces. Make sure you enjoy it folks as Romário is the only out and out finisher i've ever seen in Müller's league as they don't make them like this anymore. http://www.yourfilehost.com/media.php?cat=...=Der_Bomber.wmv http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LEXNea1vVAU The very apt song i've also used to accompany the compilation is Blitzkrieg Bop by The Ramones, chosen by Mr. Hips for one of his idol's as a youngster. snakehips 0
Further proof to modern strikers that to score a goal you don't necessarily have to whack the ball at 100 mph. Watch and learn.

By the way it's 'Der Bomber' isnt it? Not The Bomb! Are you trying to be 'down with the kids'?
