snakehips 0
Okay, we can have a test to see if certain outsiders can enter. For example: 1. Spell Howay (that is the correct spelling, obviously) 2. Eat a whole stottie with chips and gravy. 3. Go down 'the quayside' in the middle of winter without a coat. 4. Sing The Blaydon Races using the wrong words. ps should I have put this crap in General Chat?? Or, just not bothered at all? Go on, I can take it. 1. Howay 2. That's disgusting 3. Pfft. Come over here and learn something about cold. 4. I went to Blaydon Races, it was on the 9th of June, 1864 on a summer's afternoon... Sure I got something wrong there, wrong date perhaps? And many Geordies are originally Swedes...or something. Many Geordie words resemble Swedish words...for example bairn-barn. And remember: You're home is where your heart is We regret to inform you that your application to join the Nation Of Geordie has been REJECTED Your singing of The Blaydon Races was far too close to be acceptable (if you listen to some of the fuckheads who were born and bred around Newcastle sing it, you would understand what is required ) And the bairn - barn thing is interesting. Our local term for home is pronounced 'Yem' (someone can tell me how it's spelled correctly) whilst the Norwegian word is Hjem. Also, our word Gate is a Scandinavian word of the same for road, I believe. You're still rejected, though I went to Blaydon Races, it was on the 9th of June, 1992 on a summer's afternoon... Fucking 'Sky boy' Nation Of Geordie, Renton. Portly Freddie's cult along the lines of Nation of Islam. Whats sky boy? Hmmmm, just in case I am not being set up by you lot, I shall explain 'Sky boy' 'Sky boy' is a term used by Leazes to anyone who he believes began supporting NUFC when Keegan was manager and SKY were obsessed with us. When you used 1992 in your version of Blaydon Races, I used Leazes' 'Sky boy' term for you - in jest. Crap, I know, but so is most of this thread - something I claimed it was right at the beginning

snakehips 0
I think we need to set up a 'dubious-Geordie panel' tbh. The claims on here are getting more and more spurious by the day. It's getting worse than the way half of the world's population claims to be Irish. Speaking of which Oba is the biggest freak by far-he's bona fide Irish and is trotting around France with a plastic stotty cake, asking for a shamrock in the top of his Newcastle Brown. The quango (I love that word) is a non-starter I'm afraid. Due to N.O.G. cut-backs, our staffing has been 'down-sized' leaving only yours truly to investigate all applications. As it is now only me handling these, my 'IN' tray now measures a foot-and-a-half of application forms (though having a quick scan of them, some seem that they will be automatic rejection due to extremely shoddy grammar and spelling ) which will take some time to process. I've been lambasted for that comment on here but it has to be understood in it's true context, which was an existentialist conversation with friends over a few drinks. 'Who are we' 'where the fuck are we'?.....etc etc.

That loophole has now been closed through legislation now, though.
TheInspiration 1
Despite my Chelsea top having arrived in the post this morning, I had great fun in Watford yesterday, thank you very much. How many of you true fans were there?
Noelie 103
Yem, hjem is hem in Swedish. And gate is gata. Mebbe so, but the Geordie word for home is 'hyem'. And I can assure you, I was born north of the river Tyne... You're in Being born north of the river is a BIG +. Mebbe so, but north of the river Tyne could be in Haggisland.
