We are discussing the problems (perceived or fact) of Dyer.

We are discussing the faults/failings of Dalgeish.

We NEED to fathom out what is required NOW.

No doubt you have all read my incisive, well-thought-out, posts that what we need now is a striker ;)

With a striker, I reckon we can still get sufficient points to stay up. And staying up is our utmost priority - not ANY cup competion.

Getting a striker is not going to be easy especially until January so whether we can get someone who is available (loan perhaps) is something I don't know. Is there a striker around who is almost finished but can act as target man for a few months for us?

I'm not sure if getting rid of Roeder is the right way to go. As I have said in the past, any new manager is a real gamble and to get someone else in now could well be a wrong step.

So, folks, what is your solution to our problems?? Realistic solutions. Team play, tactics, personnel ???

At the minute, I'd take Chris Sutton. ;)

Gemmill, is he available?

Seriously. I fucking hate Sutton, but we need someone who takes no shit and causes defences problems. Whilst this target man does this, knock downs and scraps fall to other strikers eg Rossi or Martins or Dyer.

We NEED a strong-willed target man who can put himself about and cause defenders problems. Plain and simple imo. I wish Sibierski had played on Sat as I would have been able to form an opinion, but as he didn't I can't.

I think we are also desperate for Taylor and Rammage in the team. After the gutless display on Saturday and in the second half against Charlton, we need some players who would actually run their hearts out for the club instead of what we have now.

Btw I thought Luque looked quite good when he came on. He should be given a run (as we've said loads of times before) in the starting 11 now.

DK, I thought Luque looked shit tbh. Some of his "challenges" for headers in which he positioned himself behind the defender and just jumped up in the air, safe in the knowledge that they were going to win the header were pathetic. He looked like I expected him to look - like someone who it is pointless trying to use as an impact substitution.

We need to either take a major chance on him and give him a run in the starting line-up, or we give in altogether IMO.

That said, after scoring on Thursday, he deserved a start. Especially as Duff can't play through the middle, it would seem.

Ah whey, atleast it'll be fun travelling to Southend, Torquay, Swansea, Blackpool, Bournemouth, Milton Keynes, Milwall, Colchester, Leeds, Barnet, York, Chester, Darlington, Walsall, Peterborough, Bristol, Huddersfield, Crewe, Yeovil and Swindon.

I thought Luque put in better challenges than either Duff (mind you he was wank) or Rossi.

Mind you it all goes to show how inappropriate the service was to the front players the entire game when all they had to go for were challenges in the air against their 8ft centre half!

I think we're doon tbh. And we'll be in a worse state than Leeds as at least they had a few saleable assets. Hope I'm wrong like.

Our only chance is to change he manager and take a risk by splashing out on a class striker in January. Unfortunately everyone will know we're desperate for a striker and we're going to get shafted in the transfer market - again. Plus if it doesn't work out and we are relegated that's even more debt.

The other option is to accept we are getting relegated and start trying to adapt for the championship now. Obviously this is a less preferred option, but I've had a worrying thought. If we are skint, will the banks lend us any more money knowing we will default if we are relegated? I wouldn't have thought so, so it might be very hard to get any other players or a manager in. If this is the case we are fucked, plain and simple.

Could be the 3 NE teams in the Championship next year. We can still be top dogs! <_<

I think we have to get another manager in and hope we can get a boost for a few games to get the points in order to survive.

You can call it a short term strategy as we are unlikely to get any manager who would be of the standard we're really after. But at this stage staying up has to be the priority of anything else.

I think we're crying out for a director of football tbh. Roeder is clearly out of his depth, but sacking him just creates the same cycle of events we've seen time and time again. Bring someone in above him, which will hopefully eliminate the need for FS to get involved in team affairs.

I was working on the basis that even if the fat fuck had the intelligence to do that he would appoint some complete plank that would do nothing more than further undermine Roeder.

I agree though if it were done right it would be an excellent move.

Pretty embarrassing but I would take John Hartson. ;)

If you're fishing, then you've got me.

That is exactly the type of striker we need NOW to keep us up.

I don't like him, but he can score goals, hold the ball up and put himself about. Of course he is not the future of NUFC, and in any other circumstance I wouldn't have him anywhere near SJP but desperate times call for desperate measures.

Maybe I am being foolish and overreacting, but I am just so fucking scared after witnessing that shit on Saturday that I'm considering desperate measures.

Our midfield is reasonably good. Our defence is on a par with most of the mid-table, lower, clubs. But our striking options are bloody frightening.
