Fop 1
Theres no nicer bloke in football than SBR and we treat him like shit. TBH in that context alone FFS is pretty much getting what he deserves, that whole thing was a debacle in a personal context and in a proffesional one as well. What worries me more than GR's performance as manager is: 1. who on earth would come here and replace him? Martin O'neill wouldn't come in the summer because of the way Fat Freddie treated SBR, and o other top class managers were falling over themselves to come to Newcastle when we ended up with Souness and then Roeder. 2. Could ANY manager actually get much more out of the current squad (especially with the current injuires). Depressing as hell. Well Bobby Robson took a side heading for the Championship and with only one or two additions turned us around... so there are managers out there capable, unfortunately the thing that will prevent that happening again is sitting in throne, being advised by this guy Aye although I'd still say that side was pretty decent and had potential, but had unfortunately been erroded by something of a madman as a manager. But there's no one really out there availible like Robson at the moment (in experience, talent and success), never mind someone like him that would come to Newcastle (SBR was as much a lucky one off as KK was in his own way). Those with good pedigrees are either at clubs they wouldn't leave to come here or just wouldn't come to the circus that is Fat Fred's Newcastle Utd. ghoulert 0
I would say Hitzfeldt fits the bill of what you just said there, but I'm not 100% sure hes out of job at the moment

NewOrleansGeordie 0
Not sure I agree with that kind of hatred for someone who is essentially a good man. Sure, his team is currently terrible and I'm not supporting him necessarily. But I don't think that kind of vitriol is really justified. Oh fuck. Is it time for another one of your "Let me give you all some advice / fuck off and support Chelsea" posts?
Noelie 103
2. Could ANY manager actually get much more out of the current squad (especially with the current injuires). YES THEY COULD, if they didn't chop and change the way Roeder does. Do you realise that he made five(5) changes to the team that beat Palermo on their own field, what manager in his right mind would do that? I could see him playing Babayaro rather than Ramage at left-back, and I could see him starting Rossi up front, but they are the only changes I think should have been made and I think the lads who won in Sicily would have ran Sheffield off the park. tinofbeans 91
all true of course, however there's a dearth of managers that would want to come here. i for one have always thought he (roeder) would ultimately fuck up and the parralels to west hams fall from grace are very apparent to me (him saying it was his responsibility and then doing fuck all about it and getting them relegated). Time to say goodbye.
Tom_NUFC 0
I agree that Roeder is not good enough. I don't think he's a cunt though. I think he's a decent bloke, who cares about the club, but just simply isn't good enough. I don't hate the bloke at all. My thoughts would be, sorry Glenn, but it's not working out, it would be best if you went. All the best for the future.

Well technically (on paper) the UEFA side was the “weakened” one with lots sitting it out due to minor injuries, and due to the congestion of games (I know people think playing footy isn’t physically hard thing, but physiologically, at that level, you will be drained by trying to play too much without adequate recovery time, no matter how fit you are, it’s just biology at the end of the day). But yes certainly changing the side didn’t work out at all. If he’d played the UEFA side on Sat and lost he’d have been hammered for that too, I’m sure (I’m not sure I can think of that many managers that would have played the unchanged UEFA side tbh). In some ways it would be a good thing if Roeder IS that bad, as at least then someone could come in and due a job (assuming we’d actually pay them decently and anyone would be mad enough to take probably one of the jobs with highest expectations outside the England management). I think Robson (even at the end) would be doing a better job with the current players, but then if they’d handled his situation well (moving him upstairs at the end of the prior season or letting him run out the season he was sacked in and then moving him into a scouting or DoF role, and looking for an equal quality manager to take over) we’d never have been in this situation. But as I said (barring Hitzfeldt apparently) there not a lot of people out there and available at the moment, which worries me. I agree that Roeder is not good enough. I don't think he's a cunt though. I think he's a decent bloke, who cares about the club, but just simply isn't good enough. I don't hate the bloke at all. Yeah it’s a shame he didn’t stick to his original plan and go back the to academy, where he was doing a very, very good job apparently. It’ll actually be a loss for NUFC in that respect when he is likely sacked as manager IMO (as he’s highly unlikely to go back into that role even if offered it).
