Lazarus 0
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/6101578.stm Borat is about 10 years old now isnt he? Borat creator Sacha Baron Cohen has reportedly signed a $42.5m (£22m) film deal starring his comic creation Bruno. Baron Cohen, who last week launched his film starring spoof Kazakhstan reporter Borat in London, will play the gay Austrian fashion obsessive. According to Hollywood Reporter, a deal has been made with Universal Pictures. Bruno first cropped up in the TV series Da Ali G Show and is the third of Baron Cohen's characters to hit the big screen after Ali G and Borat. Universal Pictures has agreed to pay the sum for the film rights, and a production budget of up to $25m (£13.1m), the trade paper reported. Shocking comments Universal has made no comment about the deal, the Reuters news agency reported. Bruno visits fashion shows and often prompts his guests into making outrageous comments about the fashion industry. The news follows controversy surrounding the comedy film Borat: Cultural Learnings of America for Make Benefit Glorious Nation of Kazakhstan. The film, which sees Baron Cohen play the naively offensive Kazakh TV reporter on a journey around the US, has caused controversy in Kazakhstan, with officials unhappy at Kazakhs being described as misogynists, racists and anti-Semites who drink horse urine. Borat thrust Kazakhstan into the headlines by describing it as a place where "hunting dogs is a national sport", "porn is a popular pastime" and "age of consent has recently been raised to 10 years old". The film prompted Kazakh deputy foreign minister Rakhat Aliyev to invite the comic to the Central Asian republic. "I'd like to invite Cohen here. He can discover a lot of things," he said. luckyluke 2
tbh Although I find some of his stuff funny, I've always hated Sacha Baron Cohen.

Guest alex
Ali G was class when he was on the 11 o'clock show, as was Ricky Gervais. Sacha Baron-Cohen is still funny at times but he's been scraping the barrel for a while now.
Gemmill 44109
I think Borat's funny. I've only seen this Bruno character once when some redneck yank threatened to rip his face off for some sort of gay innuendo he made. Ali G is finished now though, class when he was doing the interviews with Rhodes Boyson and that, but the shelf life on something like that is too short. sweetleftpeg 0
I always found Borat funnier than Ali G. What I also liked about Borat is that by pretending to represent a crappy tv show in a tiny country he got people to say things in interviews they normally would never say. Like that bloke who was running for senator, who said only Christian get into heaven and all Jews are going to hell. He crosses them, they head them in. Gemmill 44109
That was class when he went canvassing round the neigbourhood with the bloke and was saying horrendously inappropriate things to potential voters. Horrendously inappropriate things that I now can't remember.
sweetleftpeg 0
Aye, they knock on the door and this woman answers it, and Borat goes 'can we please speak to the person who is allowed to vote.' When she says she is allowed to vote he laughs out loud then goes on about the order of importance in his country. 'Man...then horse...then dog...then woman.' Isegrim 9680
That was class when he went canvassing round the neigbourhood with the bloke and was saying horrendously inappropriate things to potential voters. Horrendously inappropriate things that I now can't remember. I found it funny when a woman opened and he demanded to speak to the voter. I think Bridget would have run berserk. I like Borat, he is really good at making people come out with a load of (horse) shit. EDIT: Bastid! Edited November 2, 2006 by Isegrim

MATHAFACK!" to the disgust of the bloke he's with.

David Kelly 1217
Apparently in the film he asks a guy in a gun shop what is the best gun to shoot Jews with. And the guy just lists some without batting an eye.
