Roeder faces striker headache

I'm not saying I wouldn't like to see Luque given a chance, but what I do think is that there's a danger that some people have built him up in their minds to be our saviour now (not necessarily anyone here, I'm just making an observation), and it's just going to be doubly disappointing.

I'm not saying he'll turn out to be the next Shearer but frankly chancing your arm on your £9 million man isnt exactly rocket science like.

I dont know what it is today thats made me suddenly so bitter but frankly at this moment in time I fuckin detest Roeder.

If Luque looked even the faintest bit interested when he's out on the pitch then he might get more of a chance. I really don't think Luque will make even the slightest of difference out there. I'm more pissed off with the fact that we didn't get rid in the summer to free up some cash to bring someone else in instead of him sitting on the bench occasionally like a spare prick at a wedding.

So we go into a tough UEFA cup tie with a makeshift single striker instead of giving him a go?

Luque isnt even a striker he is a left winger

Defensive midfielder?

Anyway, I personally believe the way Luque has been treated is shocking. Ever since he came back from that injury it's been pretty much obvious he was going to get very little in the way of proper opportunities. It's no suprise he looks so disillusioned. Ofcourse, that wont matter to the fans as he'll just be another lazy, overpriced, mercenary from Europe. I really am suprised no one has asked why we always seem to get the ones who are just here to collect their pay packet?

I agree that the treatment of Luque has been dubious sometimes - especially the warming up routine when already all subs had been used. Still, with performances like against Villa he did not helop his own cause and if he has not been different in training I actually can understand the managment...

But Roeder was in the press every other day a few months back saying how hard he was working, how impressed he was with him etc.

I don't believe Luque will adapt to the pace of the Premiership. Whenever i've seen him he always seems to panic on the ball and makes a stupid mistake whether it be a hurried pass or snatched shot which is a shame because in La Liga he was a quality player. At this time though the only thing that matter is that he is a striker and might just pull something out the hat which could get us a result in Palermo. Playing what is basically a six man midfield is just going to make sure we get humped.

I tend to agree with you, but I'd rather give him one more chance (he might be more suited to a european outing *clutches straw*) than play someone out of position as a lone striker.

Roeder will probably see it as a tactical masterstroke, and will use it an attempt to get a draw against the mighty giants that are Palermo. He'll get a surprise when he realises the players have no clue what they're doing, and we'll get beaten comfortably.

Roeder doesn't know at the end of a sentence what he was saying at the beginning tbh...

Fuck you can't argue with that.

Watching his post match interview last night, it was like he was going to cry for forgiveness, then he talked up how it's a battle, then he praised the dross saying everyone can't ask for more from his boys!

I have it from a mate that knows another nufc player (this is geniune).. that Luque has shown no application to play for us. He told me a good story about after the Man U game last season Roeder wanted him on for the last 20 mins but he wanted to warm up...15 mins later he comes on (might be slghtly out with the times here)...swans around the pitch. When he gets back in the dressing room he just puts his clothes straight back on without showering!!! First time he has ever seen it as a pro footballer apparently.

He may well be a lazy shite but he's a lazy shite we have spent over £10 million on, that means we should be concentrating on getting him motivated and confident so we can see some sort of return on our investment. This wouldn't be so much of a problem with the right manager but I just can't imagine Roeder being the man to do it.

Doesnt really matter how much a player costs. If he doesnt care....he doesnt care.

It makes a big difference to us how much he cost, we can't afford to be discarding ten million quid strikers who we know (from Youtube) have the talent. We have to find a way to get him motivated and get him playing to try and recoup some of our money.

If he was a £1m or £2m player it wouldn't be as important but seeing as we've spent so much on him I think it should be a priority to find out what the fuck is wrong with him and why he's looking like he doesn't care when he comes on, spending a few grand on a sports pyschologist or taking his family hostage is a lot less expensive than watching him be sold for a fraction of what we paid.

Some people can't be helped though. Marcellino springs to mind.
