FORMER Newcastle winger Laurent Robert has revealed he wants to move back to St James' Park.

The controversial French 31-year-old is currently with Spanish Primera Liga outfit Levante but wants a return to England.

Robert was forced to leave the Magpies after a bust-up with hardline boss Graeme Souness.

"I really loved my time there as I enjoyed English football and I'd love to come back if (chairman) Freddy Shepherd would have me," said Robert.

"When I think of my time at Newcastle, I can think of only one word - fantastic. There was only one reason why I left Newcastle and that was Graeme Souness."

Robert would be available when the transfer window opens in January.

Exactly what we need. Another ineffective winger \o/

I can't see it happening tbh. It's not like us to blow a good proportion of our budget on a left winger when there are other positions that desperately need stregtheneing.

He obviously knows how this place is ran, no mention of Roeder, purely if the chairman will take me.

I'm sure he would take the best part of 2 months to get fit as well, like some other Frenchman we have re-signed.

The french are conspiring...

We' be on the phone to Ginola next

Wasn't good enough in all but his first season and a half here.

'Fantastic' was it Laurent? You were paid handsomely and were bone fucking idle, you betcha it was fantastic - I'd prefer to give the shirt to someone who appears to give a fuck.

We'd be absolutely nuts to even contemplate taking that lazy shite back on our books which is why I fully expect that fat bastard of a chairman to be drawing up a contract as we type

Aye, I'll give him that....

But then you expect soo much more than that from a midfielder. Ginola was miles ahead of Robert in terms of output.

Oh I know, but it's the kind of things he did that get kids interested in football. No kid dreams of putting in a tidy performance as a defensive midfielder!

Not good enough anymore.

We sold him at the right time. And I'm a massive Robert fan. :(

When did Laurent Robert ever play for Reading ?

I fucking loved Robert. At least he had a bit of character about him. Having said that, we got shot at the right time, and I wouldn't have him back.

EDIT: Character as in personality.

I remember a story about him flying to France one time, and he left his bag unattended so there was a bomb scare. The bag contained: A toothbrush, some boxers, an ipod, and 200 condoms.
