bobbyshinton 59
When I was a youngen I used to force myself to take a short cut through the local graveyard Used to scare mesell shitless at times. Also had mates whos bedrooms backed onto the graveyard, no way would I have wanted that. I know it is illogical but even today I feel the same I must point out I mean in the dark at night

Guest alex
Where my Mam and Dad used to live was next to where about 20 nuns were buried. Never saw nowt like. was it like err a graveyard No, the estate they (and me, less recently) lived in was houses and flats built on the site of an old convent. It's at the South Gosforth end of Benton Park Road, near the DSS and opposite the garage and DIY place. Anyway, as it was consecrated ground, you could bury people there and some of the nuns were buried over the road from my Mam and Dad's. It's just a little area with a hedge round it and a tree inside. There are no headstones, just a little plaque. Didn't bother me in the least tbh. Toonraider 0
I honestly really like graveyards, im always drawn to just strolling around reading the insriptions and seeing how old people were when they died, love looking at those old ornate monuments and headstones. There is a graveyard down here that is so ancient the graves have all but disappeared into the ground, you can just about read some of the stones going back to the 1700's. I love churches and buildings anyway and yes i know i sound like a complete bore!

Toonraider 0
theres one just down the road from my old school, we used to nip out of school and eat our lunch there sat on the graves! Some of them are in a bad state and appear to be open and sunken, some kids even vandalised them. god knows why. I nearly applied for a job recently as a cremator's assistant...it sounded dead interesting! (parden the pun, im serious)!!

Radgina 1
I remember in my younger days I had watched the Evil Dead at my mates house who lived next to a graveyard. I was late in gettin home so had to run pasyt it instead of going the long way round. The bloody wind was rustling the trees so I just took a deep breath and legged it.Once in the open I breathed a sigh of relief and drew breath and chomped down on my chewing gum... only to find a daddy long legs had flew in my mouth whilst I was busy concentrating on getting past the graveyard...I pulled out the chewing gum to find the body and the legs all chewed up.... TheInspiration 1
My friend swore he once saw a ghost come out from by a graveyard, in a park very close to another of my old houses. Said it was mist that took the shape of a human figure, and legged it as soon as he saw it. Interestingly enough, the park is where someone was killed a couple of years later. Have you ever taken a look at some of the statues on these graves or the epitaphs? Some are gorgeous, some funny. And yes, even at night- that's what a flash is for. Are you in the Addams Family? It's a fair point. It's interesting to see the different kinds and the different feelings they evoke. eg, WWI graveyards in France; the Allies have very brash, vibrant, white cemeteries that feel more like celebrations than anything else. By contrast, langemark, a German cemetery, is very solemn, sombre, shady, and far more moving in its own way. Then there are cemeteries with stone angels but which invariably have bits missing- generally hands- which makes it poignant. Then there are bucolic countryside churchyards that are very peaceful indeed.

Just in the middle of a field. Very strange experience.
Guest alex
They still find skeletons in Belgium to this day when ploughing fields and such like. The amount of battles fought that have been fought there is amazing really, especially during the WWI. The Western Front was pretty much just Germany trying to invade France through neutral Belgium and an horrific stalemate ensuing. What a waste.
