Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
From .com: Current speculation is linking the name of Nigel Pearson to the position of assistant manager to Glenn Roeder at Newcastle that has been vacant since the departure of Kevin Bond last month. Pearson resigned from his position of caretaker boss at West Bromwich Albion earlier this week, following the appointment of Tony Mowbray at the Hawthorns. Nottingham-born Pearson began his career in the non-league with Heanor before moving on to Shrewsbury Town in 1981. After six years the defender signed for Sheffield Wednesday, switching to the Smoggies late in his career. Following retirement from playing in 1998 he managed Carlisle and was assistant to Gary Megson at Stoke City before taking up a coaching role at the FA, where he was involved with the youth team setup and gained his Pro Licence qualification in 2003. Pearson linked up with Bryan Robson at the Baggies in 2004 and was placed in temporary charge when his former Boro team mate was axed last month. There's no confirmation or denial of this story as yet from either Pearson or Newcastle.

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Wow, what an amazing CV... I know, but a no-nonsense defender with a decent coaching qualification is better than fuck all, which is what we've got at the moment.

He already sounds better than our current manager, how much higher are we supposed to shoot for an assistant?
Whitey 0
He is meant to be a very good coach, and he has got one more qualification than Roeder As someone said he was a no nonesense defender, he is also meant to be a good motivator.
Jimbo 175
Name: Nigel Pearson Position: Assistant Manager Nationality: England Date Of Birth: 21/08/63 Place Of Birth: Nottingham, England Height: 185cm Weight: 90kg Signed: 09/11/04 Previous Clubs: Player - Heanor Town, Shrewsbury Town, Sheffield Wednesday, Middlesbrough. Nigel Pearson joined West Bromwich Albion on the 9th of November 2004 after being appointed as Bryan Robson's number two. Pearson whose 41, left his post as England Under-20 coach to join the Hawthorns outfit. Nigel retired from Professional Football in 1998. He has spent the last two-and-a-half years working as a national coach for the FA, previous to that he was manager of Carlisle United and first team coach at Stoke City. Nigel started his career with Non-League side Heanor Town in the Midland League. In 1981, Pearson signed for Shrewsbury Town, he made a total of 181 appearances for the Shrews before a £250,000 transfer move to Sheffield Wednesday in 1987. He soon became captain at Sheffield Wednesday and in 1991 he stood proud as he lifted the League Cup at Wembley Stadium where Wednesday had beaten Manchester United 1-0 in the Rumbelows (League) Cup Final. In 1993 Nigel broke his leg in the semi final of the League Cup, Wednesday reached both the FA Cup and League Cup Final that year and lost both of them and Nigel had to sit out of both matches through injury. Nigel made 218 starts for Sheffield Wednesday and in 1994 new Middlesbrough manager Bryan Robson signed Pearson for £750,000. Robson immediately installed Pearson as captain. After 12 months Nigel had led Middlesbrough to the First Division Championship. Nigel made three appearances at Wembley with Boro, playing in both League and FA Cup finals in 1997, and the League Cup final in 1998. Middlesbrough lost all 3 finals. Nigel hung up his boots in 1998 and went on to complete his UEFA coaching badges. In December 1998 Nigel was appointed as Carlisle United's Director of Football. When Pearson joined Carlisle they were in deep trouble and lying bottom of the Fourth Division Table. Pearson took control of 27 games at Brunton Park, winning 5, drawing 12 and losing 10. The final game of his reign was at Home to Plymouth Argyle and Carlisle needed nothing less than a win to ensure they played professional football the following season. On-loan goalkeeper Jimmy Glass came up for a corner four minutes into injury and somehow managed to get on the end of a rebound and drove home the most famous goal in Carlisle's history, keeping the club in the Football League. In the Summer of 1999 Gary Megson appointed Nigel Pearson as head coach of Stoke City. Gary was sacked from Stoke in November 1999 but was appointed West Brom manager in March 2000. Pearson was offered the chance to join Megson at the Hawthorns, but Pearson rejected Megson's offer. In June 2001 Pearson departed the Britannia Stadium following Stoke's decision not to offer Pearson a new contract. In 2002 Nigel was appointed as one of the FA's new national coaches and he immediately jetted out to the Under-20 tournament in Toulon where England were playing. Pearson was involved with every England Youth team from Under-16's to the Under-20 team. On November 9th 2004 he teamed up with Bryan Robson to become West Bromwich Albion's Assistant Manager. Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Bring Big Al in tbh. I get the impression he's quite happy on MotD. Hanson had the right idea; why put up with the pressures of management when you can make a good living watching games with your mates and debating with the benefit of hindsight.
