OK, wrong word. Misleading or incorrect price, and a price that's understood by all. Seeling them per banana is obviously OK.

So basically it's  ambiguous  if you have to quickly tot something up in your head? You are making a strong case against me here, I must admit, though maybe somewhat unintentionally. ;)

Actually selling them at 14p per banana doesnt really give you an accurate price per pound or kilo

Well that's disproved by my previous response, dickwad!

Dotbum mentioned the rigged scales, not me. I believe the citizen has a right to know what he's buying, and the state should enforce this right, that's about it really. I also believe we should go fully metric asap as well, but it aint going to happen for political reasons.

I was responding to your point about "accurate scales" as when I reread what I was responding to I realised I hadn't really said anything relevant! Gemmill's got it spot on tbh. You believe the state should enforce your rights to be protected and go metric because you're fucked if you have to do hard sums.

You couldn't do it either! If you're using imperial, you have to convert to the lowest denominator (i.e. convert stones to pounds to ounces), do the sum, and then reconvert! It's crazy, when metric has a great simplicity to it.

Anyway, enough of this. Is anyone going to comment on Noelie's nostalgia while he's baking in the LA sun?

I would think the vast majority of people would be able to estimate the weight of a banana to the nearest gram.

I think the opposite is probably the case. In the UK at least.

Can you explain to me how getting 4.6 pounds wouldn't give you the answer you need? Are we talking caviar here? I could go further but I'm rarely faced with a situation where I need to be more accurate than that.

Do you know I only heard that such a thing as the metric pound existed a few weeks ago, just to further complicate the issue.

Did I really get you there?

Seriously, I've changed my mind.

I've been wooshed then. If you'd both been taking the piss throughout this thread it wouldn't have been so bad. You weren't though

Metric pound? Do you mean decimal pound?

Anyway, I suggest a truce, this is getting silly!

 Fuck off, I thought that was a good one, I was going to make a comment about a weighing monkey but I thought that would be COMPLETE OVERKILL given how OBVIOUS it was I was taking the piss. ;)

Mind you SB seems to have taken me seriously too, reflection of my perceived intellect, perhaps...

Probably just because you were being serious before that and switched to taking the piss. I actually thought you were taking the piss to start with giving the argument you were putting forward. My mistake

I'm never totally serious, but if you think the argument's absurd then it is rubber, you are glue tbh. ;)
