Happy Face 29
Neigbours where playing James Blunt at daft decibels till after 2am on Saturday night. Yesterday another neighbour said they've been keeping a noise pollution diary ( WTF?) and said I should dial 101 if it happens again. Has anyone used 101 before? Did you get satisfaction? I'd never heard of it.
Guest alex
I was listening to Depeche Mode '101' the other day. Not that that answers your question.
Guest Patrokles
I bet a good few people end up dialing after reading this thread, just out of curiosity. I have to admit that I'm sorely sorely tempted.

Gemmill 44936
Never heard of it, although I'd sooner bray on the wall and then their door to tell them to pack it in than keep a book on them. Unless you've already approached them without success, that is. We used to have some knobs that would do this when I was about 15. If they made a racket, I would get up early the next morning, wait until my mam had gone to work, turn the speakers on my stereo so they were pressed right up against the wall and play music at full blast on repeat. Let them be awake through their hangovers. What a fucking rebel I was.

I'd never heard of it. I had to call them a couple of weeks ago when there was about twenty charvers outside my house and despite asking them nicely to move on and again not so nicely I just got a load of abuse. The lass on the phone was canny helpful and took the details and said she would pass it on to the Community Wardens and the Police as I live next to a Metro and it is an alcohol exclusion zone too. She gave me a reference number in case I had to call back as all future complaints will be logged under the unique reference code. .....However an hour later they moved on of their own accord and an hour after that a police car drove past to check it out....so if you want something done pretty sharp no but if you want to build up a case against your neighbours than the more you ring with your various complaints I assume something may be done ubder tenancy agreements or whatever

Happy Face 29
To be honest it never really bothers me. I've got no kids trying to sleep or anything and I'm normally pissed when they have it blasting so falling asleep is not a problem. The other neighbours are seething though, so I wondered if it was worth helping them out with a few calls to make a stronger case.

Meenzer 15552
Just don't tell my downstairs neighbours about 101 or they'll be onto it in a flash. They bash on the door every couple of months to eff and blind about the excessive walking around that's being done in this flat, particularly "one creaky floorboard that sends a shiver right down my spine every time it's stepped on". Then don't choose to live in the basement flat of a crumbling Victorian property, genius...

The neighbour complaining about them most is downstairs to me and knocks on my door regularly to complain that he can hear my kettle boiling or he can hear me clipping my nails. I'm starting to side with the arsehole charvers who REALLY take the piss.

sweetleftpeg 0
Just to make you all feel better, the 101 service for Newcastle is staffed by the civic centre switchboard deaprtment, quite possibly the most arsey phone dept in the country. 'Don't you know their extension? We're very busy!'

Kid Dynamite 7034
There were a load of teenagers at a party in my street last night. Blasting out new monkey and chasing each otehr through the pensioners gardens so i spent 30mins trying to find the number on the net, finally found and rang it and it isnt in service in durham! Rang 999 instead and they told me they could do nowt about loud noise! I ended up telling them to fuck off myself and was half expecting a brick trough my window for the rest of the night

The police not being able to help when you dialled 999 is also a joke.

Craig 6682
Yeah I called it the other week. Came round the corner near home one night and found a shopping trolley stuffed in the middle of the road upside down. Only just managed to miss smashing into the thing, got out and pushed it to the side of the road. As I was doing so, I heard a chorus of "Oi you fucking wanker, leave it where it is!" from the bushes off to the left hand side. Needless to say as soon as I'd driven off, the little shits would have put it right back where it was so thought it best to call the old bill to send someone round to make sure it was removed properly.
