Gemmill 46280
ATROCITY EXHIBITION Monday 16th October 2006 Right then, four home games in, we've lost two, drawn one and won just the one. We've not looked half decent all season. We looked pish in the pre-season friendlies and that form has been carried into the season proper. We've won one away at West Ham and naturally we were battered at Man Utd and Liverpool (like we always are). We're doing nothing and we're going absolutely nowhere. Man Utd (a) and especially Bolton (h) were as bad as anything served up by Souness, who is now largely held up as incompetent. This is being written on the back of the Bolton result where we have just witnessed a team throw 3pts away with some of the most inept defending seen in many a year and Gallowgate and by God, we've seen some ineptitude in Newcastle United back-lines. Alongside the defensive shambles on display at SJP was a complete absence of spirit, fight, commitment, leadership and gumption from the entire team in a second half which will live long in the memory. Everything goling on at NUFC suggests the club is in meltdown. Shepherd has appointed Roeder on a 2-year deal and has given him only meagre resources to rebuild the squad after the folly of his Souness appointment. Defensively, there is not a single defender at the club worthy of the description. Bramble has picked up the Clown Defender of the Premiership baton dropped by Boumsong as he departed for Serie B in August, Moore looks like he once could perform as a half decent defender but has so little pace it is painful whereas Ramage will likely be playing non-league within three seasons and Stephen Carr is kidding no-one at all he is fit to play at this level any longer. Stephen Taylor is little more than unproven promise and back-page hype from sycophants in the local press. Roeder is being spared the vitriol that is being stored up in increasingly depressed stands because most of us know the club's problem is the piss poor leadership provided by the Chairman and the other dolts who want to sell up and take their money. But that won't last forever. We all know Shepherd isn't backing Roeder and that increasingly a decent man is being stitched up by the Chairman but the complete lack of fight, graft and balls in that second half against Bolton reflects very badly on a manager not many of us really thought was up to the job, contrary to the spin put out by Shepherd's dupes and placemen in the local media. His record at Gillingham, Watford and West Ham is not open to scrutiny and whilst he did a good job stabilising the ship last season after Souness had been bombed, the big questions are now being asked. The poor attitude and lack of commitment in the second half v. Bolton is something Roeder is completely responsible for. The noises we are hearing about Emre wanting out for Bayern Munich and likewise Luque persistently looking nothing like the player he was at Deportivo gives off the smell of a club on the decline. Since the start of the season Roeder has lost two members of his coaching staff - Bond, binned by NUFC on the flimsiest of evidence and the long serving Tommy Craig desptached, seemingly to make way for Lee Clark, a lad with barely any coaching experience whatsoever. McDermott is the man who now stands alongside Roeder and whilst he may have this "feel for the club" Shepherd certain people were talking about last season, I just wonder what Clark and McDermott bring to the party in terms of expertise and know-how. On just about every level, the club looks bereft. How is it Everton can pay £7M for Andrew Johnson, an Englishman with proven Premiership experience but NUFC pays £10M for Obafemi Martins with no Premiership experience and who has done little to suggest he is a man who can start delivering? We also noted the big grey gaps in the Level 7 in the Milburn and the decision by the PA announcer (did he really have to play fucking Meatloaf or someone who sounded horrifically like him at HT by the way?) not to announce the attendance at the end of the game as the normal practice? Let's be honest, after Man Utd and what we've seen this season had we not been duped into yet another bumper season ticket sale, with this game on telly, a Sunday fixture etc, the attendance would have been substantially lower than what we had today. To pretend anything else is just bull-shit and self delusion. The life is draining out of the support and Roeder is on the point of losing the supporters. Shepherd lost us a long while back - I think around the time he was visiting brothels with Douglas and taking the piss out of those who pull replica shirts over their heads. There were ugly, isolated incidents around SJP for the Bolton game - supporters arguing amongst themselves, stewards melodramatically warning people to calm down and SJP emptying prematurely. The time for the club to worry is when supporters stop getting angry and begin getting apathetic. Anger Is An Energy but apathy will kill us. We, the faithful B&W tribe have done everything and more to give the club its platform for success but it has been wasted by one terrible decision after another. Decisions by and large taken or fudged by the dope of a Chairman it is our grave misfortune to call our own. As regular readers of this gubbins will know - we favoured Martin O'Neill as the successor to Souness. Villa were abysmal last season and finished well short of us. Who will bet against those roles being reversed and for those who thought Roeder was a better appointment than the former Celtic boss, then I am afraid to tell you the evidence suggests completely the contrary. There are stories leaking out of NUFC of Roeder standing up to Shepherd and demanding support for team-building in January but frankly he has failed to get the resource needed from Shepherd so far and his position is weakening week on week as the team continues to fail. The lack of fight and bottle once we went behind to a pretty uninspiring Bolton side and the non-performance at Man Utd has damned Roeder in the eyes of many. Ask yourself the question is Glenn Roeder, nice man that he undoubtedly is, the man to win something for us at NUFC? I know what I think but I'd love to be proven wrong because Roeder is an honest, decent man with a long association with our club. The thing is, he needs to win us football matchesd and this season for reasons not entirely of his own making he is failing. When the shit starts flying at NUFC, Shepherd will keep his head well down all but for a few patronising bull-shit comments to the discredited, local journalists he controls. There will be fuck all about how he failed to get the players in everyone knew we needed at the end of last season, what the fuck is happening about any take-over, whether the club has anything to hide from Stevens investigations and what will happen in January when the transfer window re-opens. What kind of pull we will have in January, God only knows. There were plenty openly saying they are giving Thursday a miss and whilst no-oe in the tf bunker can condone people missing home games they are able to attend, it is symptomatic of a malaise descending on our support right now. Shepherd should be warned that if supporters start switching off from the club then NUFC is worth fuck all to any buyer. We are the club. Always have been, always will be. It will take more than Hollywood signings to get people back because the scales are falling from people's eyes at the method Shepherd uses for running our club. Big flash signings surrounded by mediocrity watched by increasingly pissed off supporters. We want a squad of players, quality in all areas of the pitch, strength in depth and a sense NUFC is being run as a proper football club rather than the Premiership's version of Phoenix Nights. The Beasts await. Jesus! http://www.true-faith.co.uk/html/tbawe.htm Pretty good summing up of the situation. Sad, really.

Guest Patrokles
Yeah, the current disorder shown by these failures means that something must break, because at the moment, the unknown pleasures of winning are such a novelty right now. It's been decades since we were successful, and the atmosphere is really starting to suffer. I feel like we're going from safety to where...? and that the defence is made of glass. We really need some leaders of men with real insight, or else we're in trouble. Hopefully, at a later date, we can look back and say I remember nothing of the last 24 hours. let's just hope a suitable candidate can be found. Tom 14021
I feel pretty apathetic beyond half time now. I dont know what it is. There are no surpises, we struggle to look decent, maybe go ahead, then it all falls to shit and i know its falling to shit but i also know theres nothing we can do about it at the time because for the next nth minutes we are going to be a laughing stock and i can scream and shout and it wont change a thing because certian players are just fucking useless. Proven usless and yet they still remain, and fat fucking freddy sits on his fat fucking lazy stupid arse on top of his mountian of cash not giving a shit. Gemmill 46280
Re Shepherd's fatness, I've discovered that he has a lift in his fucking HOUSE! And he won't use the stairs AT ALL. And it's not a little dumb waiter thing either, apparently it's like a particularly plush department store type lift. That's where our season ticket money is going. Surely there are fans unhinged and hateful enough to off Shepherd given the right encouragement? If people are SERIOUS about removing him as chairman, they just need to prod those types subtly. A lad I know works for a big security company and they kitted out Shepherd's house. He worked on the job and was shown round the day they arrived by Shepherd who announced that he "couldn't cope with the stairs at his age, so they'd have to use the lift."
