Newcastle United boss Glenn Roeder has added Graeme Carrick, the kid brother of Manchester United's Michael, to his academy coaching staff.

Carrick, almost four years Michael's junior, was released by the Hammers, but has now joined the Newcastle set-up.

"Graeme is working for us in the academy with the under-10s, and he has the makings of a fine coach," says Roeder.

"We didn't get his brother, but perhaps Graeme will help coach the next Michael."

That makes him what - 22?

"I've been watching him in training, and I have to say, the way he's passed the ball about alongside those 10-year olds has been a joy to behold and he's looked incredibly sharp. I'm sure he'll turn into a great asset for this club"
- Roeder in 10-days after handing him a 2-year playing contract.

Actually, what position does he play? If he's a defender or a striker, we're in no position to turn our noses up at Hammers rejects.

I'd put money on it this possibility was mentioned in negotiations.
