MattM4 0
This has been pointed out several times but: honestly who's the moron up there that's allowing this to happen for every European game

Bizza 105
Why don't we use the normal gold lettering for UEFA cup games?
Meenzer 15347
The kitsmen.........better than Shola. "SHOLA" in white on b/w stripes would just come up as a big fat "O", so I'm sure Matt would be delighted...

Kid Dynamite 6964
As mentioned numerous times before, Its the legal lettering for uefa cup games. Im pretty sure its either black or white you are allowed and white seems to be the lesser of 2 evils with the black square on the back.

My biggest problem is if we can have a black square for the numbers, why can't we have a black strip above it for the name? I'm sure I remember we had something similar during one of our first couple of seasons back in the top flight. It looked decent.
Guest Patrokles
Having said that, if you can: a) Read the names on the back of the shirt from your seat not recognise players for the team you support I'd be surprised.
Andrew Flintoff 0
It's not UEFA Cup lettering, it's adidas lettering. It doesn't have a black trim around it like the Premiership lettering so you can't see it. Why we can't have had it in gold (as we did for Shearer's testimonial) I don't know. Also why we don't extend the black panel I don't know, though I do know that by the rules you only need the number to be entirely clear and not the lettering, so they are adhering to the rules as such.
