I close on my mortgage tomorrow, so I know where you are.

Nothing much to worry about really. Check your credit score, bring any record of regular payments that you've made in the last two years (rent/loan repayment etc) and your bank statements for the same period and you'll be fine.

Its actually better than pissing it away on rent. I have my own mortgage (ie not with a bird) so less pressure on making things work. Its also amazing how much you learn around the house when you have to do your own DIY !! Would highly recommend it if you have a steady job.

No worries going to see an advisor mate, to use a shit word, just a bit of a "natter".

If you're in permanent work, go for it. Don't throw your money down the drain by renting. Assuming their isn't a housing market price crash, or interest rates start soaring (they have actually just gone up last month!) you'll be reet.

You can get your credit report off there for free, but remember to cancel the subscription after the 30 days.

On your credit report it will show every loan you have had, against each one will be a row of Zeros if you have not defaulted on any payment. Each Zero represtents one month, if you have defaulted on any loans the there will be a number showing how many months you have defaulted, its those numbers that the mortgage brokers look at.
