Meenzer 15716
Just got back from a fucking awesome few hours in the company of Justin Townes Earle, so I'm checking out his recorded tracks now. http://www.last.fm/music/Justin+Townes+Earle http://www.myspace.com/justintownesearle He's playing the free outdoor stage at the Sage this Sunday afternoon as part of the Americana Weekend, if anyone's up for it - well worth a trot along, even if his MySpazz suggests he thinks he's playing the "Gateshead Festival in New Castle". His original material's not bad, though I don't know if he'll have enough time to reel off a dozen classic blues/bluegrass/country tracks like tonight, but hopefully there'll be some room for manoeuvre. Oh and there's a paid gig later on that same night, but I know my opinion isn't worth that much to any of you. http://www.thesagegateshead.org/whats_on/e...=&match=any

Guest alex
DJ Food - Raiding the 20th Century Awesome. Still free online too.... http://mediamogul.seas.upenn.edu/pennsound...0th_century.mp3 What are peoples favourite mix cds? DJ Food - Now Listen! Again Jason Forrest - Shamelessly Exciting The Avalanches - Since I Left You and now... Girl Talk - Feed The Animals It would probably be Coldcut's Journeys by DJ, Colin Dale's Outer Limits, DJ Hype's United Dance, Paul Oakenfold's Journeys by DJ, Tom Middleton's Sounds of the Cosmos (deep house mix) and Norman Jay & Giles Peterson's Desert Island Mix (also a Journeys by DJ comp). Probably missed a few off like. Edit: Sasha & Digweed - Renaissance. Edited July 24, 2008 by alex

I dont think anything i've heard has surpassed the early Sasha Shelly's and Universe mixes. Leftfield's Not Forgotten with an acapella of Whitney Houston's I wanna Dance With Somebody scratched and then dropped over the top. Reese's - Rock to the beat with kid'n'Play's 2 Hype cut together too. Done live rather than mixed in a studio so much cooler.

Technical brilliance but it sounded very good too. Edit: Your mate Nick Warren's 'Back to Mine' is also excellent.
