Jason Molina has been one of my favourite performers for a while now, and he's always been a very consistent recording artist. Although each album he's produced, as Songs: Ohia, or this new name (Magnolia Electric Co.), has been distinct, they've been held together by his voice and songwriting style.

Anyway, he's just made a new album as Magnolia Electric Co., and it's well worth checking out/'getting hold of'. It's called Fading Trails. It should be fairly easy to procure online.

If you like it then try to get The Lioness (album) by Songs: Ohia, and the Songs: Ohia album actually called Magnolia Electric Co.

Just go a hold of this but I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet since I've also got the new ones from Yo La Tengo (contender for album of the year), The Decemberists, The Mountain Goats and Grizzly Bear all of which I've enjoyed over the weekend and would recomend.

I was really disappointed by the new Mountain Goats. I've never liked his slower, more sombre songs, and he's filled a whole album with them! bastard.

I've only heard this one and The Sunset Tree and I agree I prefer his more upbeat songs (This Year and Dance Music being two of my favourite songs from last year) but I am still enjoying the album.

Have you heard any Yo La Tengo? I had never heard anything by them until about six months ago and now they are quite possibly my favourite band and I'm trying raise their profile.

Positive discrimination is permitted, but only in situations where the month in question has previously been discriminated against for a prolonged period of time. Some would argue this just leads to further persecution of the months.

Side note: Months of the year, as opposed to?

It's a short step from being a monthist to being a seasonist, and then where are you? Practically a yearist tbh, and we all know what that means.

Exactly.

Now I am sure Patrokles and David Kelly will thank me for ruining this thread!

So does all this mean you've heard the album or are you still stuck on the lastest from S Club 7?

YLT have been around for a good while. They're not quite the grandfathers of indie rock, but they're the middle-agers. And Then Nothing Turned Itself Out was a really good album. I like them, but I'm not a huge devotee.

And Then Nothing is probably my favourite album of theirs but their new one is a lot more ecclectic and a lot closer to I Can Hear The Heart in style. It's very good as are all of their albums. They're very well received by the critics but for some reason I hardly ever hear anyone mention them which is a shame.
