Does crime pay?

We have a bloke on our estate has not done a stroke of legal work all his life 30+. Well known to evryone that he supplied drugs in the local boozers etc. Yet he has a big (nice) house a standard for the image 4x4.

 

He must be worth a canny bit, so uin his case crime pays. I also think certain crimes are now accepted to some extent or level which provides a canny income for people.

I reckon it probably does pay. But 99% of the thicko's that are involved are making the money for someone else while they slum it on some dodgy council estate.

 

Unless they are really clever, it will probably catch up with them in time. Then i guess you have to ask, it a stint inside worth it?

there was that question in "freakonomics" - why do drug dealers live with their mothers?

 

and the answer was that 95% of them would earn as much in Mc Donalds without the risk of getting killed - its only as you move into "management" that the $$$ stick to your fingers
