Guest alex
LM, I don't know what you keep laughing about. You look like an idiot that can't come to terms with reality. Only a complete idiot, would say that ALL these players I list are "panic buys", "pre transfre deadline transfers" and "lack planning" and only bigger idiots would agree with it. And yes, the breathtaking idiocy of it is both sad and funny at the same time. And only a complete moron would be unable to see the massive backward steps we are taking under Freddy Shepherd. Not only are other teams improving, but we are getting worse, exacerbating our relative decline. Only an idiot could fail to see this, and only an idiot could fail to spot the cause - the eminently unprofessional man in charge of the club. Where he ranks alongside previous chairmen is utterly irrelevant. His performance is unacceptable and only you can't see it. Gemmil - you were utterly and completely wrong about Souness More importantly, so was Shepherd.
LeazesMag 0
For my benefit, because I've forgotten, what is it you base the 5th best in the country thing on again? eeerrrr..... only 4 clubs have a higher average position and the same 4 clubs are the only clubs to have qualified more for europe. Understand ? Feel free to disprove if you can. But I expect you will make something up anyway, like Dan and Arsprilla etc

Li3nZ 1
The fact is we don't know ALL the facts, we have not been following Shepherd, Roeder, et al, with tapped phone conversations and spying on his every move through video surveillance so we probably have very limited knowledge of who he did try to sign, defenders or otherwise, how he came about being unsuccessful in certain signings, and so we have actually NO IDEA whether it is through any fault of his own, personal circumstances, or anything. So i would be more inclined to agree we do not know for sure they were "panic buys" - but please someone define what must be the criteria precisely to result in the status of "panic buy" I think the most Idiotic point of this thread is that you, gemmill, and Dan, seem to be arguing totally seperate points of view! If however, you think it isn't and you aren't happy, give up your ticket and force change. I only hope their replacements will be among the top 4. And I am pleased you are so confident such a thing would be easy, because I can't think of anyone who has shown themselves to be prepared and willing to come in and do better lurking in the backround. BTW - the reason for the lack of money ie only 3 or 4 clubs have spent more than us ??? is because they threw money at the man YOU backed. EDIT. BTW - we are "only" 5th because we haven't appointed a manager as good as Keegan, but YOU, as an accountant, aren't suggesting that improving the clubs stadium capacity and building a new state of the art training complex, aren't "going backwards" I hope Yeah yeah, 5th best in the country, blah blah. Whatever. WE ARE GOING BACKWARDS FAST AND HAVE BEEN SINCE ROBSON LEFT YOU BLIND MONG. As I've said umpteen times, you blame me for Souness and me for Souness being backed, yet Shepherd gets off Scot free. What an idiot that makes you look. What an idiot that makes you look. but you said we have been going backwards under Shepherd ? Shepherd appointed Robson, didn't he ? We did well under Robson, didn't we ? Souness was indeed a bad appointment and a blip, that is football, but Roeder is going forwards again from Souness, or does this escape you ? The point is - I am right, only 4 clubs have done better over the last decade. Is this a fact or not ? I think you should look at the overall picture rather than knee jerk, the season is also only 4 games old. We were 7th last season, from 14th the season the year before. This is going forwards. And also - we only finished in the top 7 twice between the 1950's and 1992, such is the far bigger and better club we have now under the current board, as perfectly epitomised by your higher expectations. I also think that - as an accountant - you should not really consider such outstanding business improvements such as the ground and the training complex, to be "going backwards", rather than nothing other than a progressive club looking forward and expanding the business and potential. You must be one blind mong of an accountant if you can't see this, mate. Edited September 17, 2006 by LeazesMag
Gemmill 46328
Ok, as an accountant, I don't like the amount of debt we're carrying. As a fan I don't like the paper thin squad we've got, and wonder how much more debt we'll have to get ourselves into to sort it out. We are so unprofessionally run, it's untrue - that's clear to me as an accountant, as a fan, and as an intelligent person. You have to wonder why you're oblivious to it. I listened to Bill Kenwright on the radio today - an intelligent man who loves his club and makes decisions in the best interest of his club. He's only been chairman one and a half years and already looks to know the job better than Shepherd.

I listened to Bill Kenwright on the radio today - an intelligent man who loves his club and makes decisions in the best interest of his club. He's only been chairman one and a half years and already looks to know the job better than Shepherd. At last. A proper response from someone ....... I don't know if he knows better or not. Would you appoint Moyes ? Personally, I might, but plenty would not. Has he backed Everton like Shepherd has Newcastle ? There was a time when Everton were a lot bigger and better than Newcastle. Gordon Lee proved that. What are his plans for Everton ? Are they going to match our stadium, if not why not ? He might "talk better" but it doesn't mean he is "better". Gordon McKeag talked "better " than almost anyone but he and his cronies and predecessors were the biggest twats in football. The trouble with Shepherd is he opens his gob and comes across as a twat and so people don't like him, thats all. I don't think I would, but I don't give a toss, I didn't like McKeag, Westwood etc so its irrelevant. But until Everton do better than us - over a fairly consistent period of time - they or no one else is "better". I don't know why you are worried, we are doing quite well, if they does fuck up they will be replaced, and they will leave behind a damn sight better club than they found for you, which is more than I have had watching Newcastle for the most of the last 42 years. You might actually see Newcastle win something, assuming the new board are better, as I was only 14 and couldnt' go to Budapest, although I saw the 1st leg and all the other 5 european games that year. If the new board are worse, then you're going to have a shit time like I had, and actually want him back .....

Dr Gloom 22228
if the signing of siberski wasn't desperate i don't know what is Do you want him to sign these short term players and slag him off, or do you not want him to sign them and slag him off ? Or do you - as is normal - naively believe the club can afford to buy half a team of superstars every summer...although you would then say there are "too many trophy signings" Canny laugh anyway honestly. why do you insist on putting words in people's mouths in a feeble attempt to justify your cretinous defence of shepherd? where have i said i expected us to sign a team of superstars? all i expected was our chairman and manager to have some kind of plan in spending our limited budget. that means: * not spending it all on two attacking players, one of whom despite being a good player we didn't really need. * not leaving the majority of our business until the last few days of the window AGAIN * not panic buying the likes of siberski, bernard and rossi * investing a good chunk of the budget on some quality at the back. something we have failed to address AGAIN honestly, i don't know how you can defend it. we missed out on free tranfers like sol campbell, hasam tabelsi, jimmy floyd hasslbank and many more that would have added depth, quality and experience to the squad. instead we approach the window with little or no strategy AGAIN and the end result is a wafer thin unbalanced squad. answer me this: are you honestly happy with our defence going into the new season? don't you think we should have added more to that area of the squad than oliver bernard, who frankly has been shit since he left us. Honestly, why do you keep making things up, rather than accuse me of "putting words into your mouth" Please explain where - since january 2003 - Woodgate, Parker, Emre, Boumsong, Duff, Bowyer, Kluivert, Carr, Milner, Emre, Butt, Moore and Faye were all "panic buys", "buys without planning" "buys made just before the transfer window AGAIN". That is 13 players in almost 4 years, add Owen to the list who only a complete fool would say is not a long term buy made with Shearers retirmement in mind, Luque who the manager had openly said he wanted for a while, and Martins too who had been linked with the club for a while. Out of the first list, Woodgate especially was an outstanding example of showing foresight, getting him in January before others would have came in in the summer, yet people like you peddle the rubbish that "we spent nowt going into the CL" when we had bought in advance of that to get the quality player first...the only club to spend big in January. For as long as you say things which are made up, and not true, I will tell you that they are a load of crap, instead of making things up like this, you should take note of real facts, such as the fact that over the last decade the club has qualified for europe 7 times, the 5th most in the country, and you dont' do that by making "panic buys" and "lack planning". Even more hilarious is the fact you appear to think nobody buys any players just before the transfer deadline ... I suppose you are going to tell us that Liverpool buying Kuyt and Chelsea buying Cole is "panic buys" and "lack foresight". As for Duff and Martins, it is living proof that people like you will whinge whatever the club does. The club had been linked with Malbranque for a while to play on the right. They bought Duff, personally I would prefer Duff on the right to Malbranque on the right. In my opinion if the club had not bought Duff for what we paid people like you would be having a field day criticising them for not doing so. We needed 2 forwards minimum. We got them, he used his budget, and has brought in a defender and another forward and a loan forward as there was no money left. If you think the club should have brought in a good defender and a forward and other loan or free signings you would be whinging that not buying forwards would mean that Ameobi or Luque would have to play a lot this season. The choices the club had were put up by me in another thread somewhere. If you cannot accept that he had a limited budget and has made his choice - yet still moan you want more, then YOU DO INDEED MUST THINK THE CLUB HAS A BOTTOMLESS PIT OF MONEY. Get real. If Martins and Duff are a success [and I think we know Duff will be here playing at the peak of his career, you tell ME what is wrong with that] then it means that he can turn his attention next to a defender, happy with his forwards. It is only quality that counts, this is the only way to build a team, by getting the right players and making good judgements - and getting them when they are available. A good idea for you, would be to stop repeating what others say, look at the facts ie our league position and a realistic appraisal of our financial situation, and get a mind of your own to arrive at the conclusion. so you are happy that our only new defender singed in the last window was bernard? jesus wept

I am not surprised your "opinions" are such utter tripe, when you are clearly basing them on garbage and untrue information. I repeat - if you want to see a shite board, there are 87 clubs that have a worse record than us over the past decade. Base your "opinions" on that fact, or open your eyes. A good idea for you, would be to stop repeating what others say, look at the facts ie our league position and a realistic appraisal of our financial situation, and get a mind of your own to arrive at the conclusion. bump for Dan, to tell us how all these players are "panic buys", "pre transfer deadline buys" and "lack planning", as he says. what the fuck are you taking about? are you seriously saying that sibierksi wasn't a panic buy? yes or no will do. i can't bing myself to read another 1000 word rant like that...i've actually supposed to do some work today. I have quite simply pointed out, you said ALL our buys were "panic buys", "pre transfer deadline transfers".....and that is absolute BOLLOCKS. Substantiate your statement by looking at that list, or admit that the vast majority of our buys are not "panic buys" or "pre transfer deadline transfiers" or they "lack planning". I am not surprised your "opinions" are such utter tripe, when you are clearly basing them on garbage and untrue information. I repeat - if you want to see a shite board, there are 87 clubs that have a worse record than us over the past decade. Base your "opinions" on that fact, or open your eyes. I "love" the "massive amount" of "quotations" Leazes uses.
LeazesMag 0
if the signing of siberski wasn't desperate i don't know what is Do you want him to sign these short term players and slag him off, or do you not want him to sign them and slag him off ? Leazes, we are NOT the 5th most successful side of the last decade. Its a statistical nonsense the way you have calculated that. Teams who have finished in that top 5 in that time have also won trophies something we show little sign of. We have managed more time out of the top 5 than in it. We have finished 11th or lower of 5 occasions. It shows we yo-yo around the league. No stability. What have the board fucked up on? We have had ONE decent manager who managed 3 top 5 finishes. We have had 3 who didnt. We have had 3 who fucked up and 1 who looks like he might. (Dalglish got Keegans team to 2nd but I have given him credit for it - his own was a shambles) Thus, that is 3 poor managers who didnt understand the club, the area or how to organise a successful team in black and white. Employed by whom? Responsibility for that is whos? Irrespective of their backgrounds the responsibility for that failure is the boards. Equally we dont need to much foresight to see where Glen Roeder will end up do we? Top 5 or sacked? Know where my money is and guess I am not alone on that score. Shep has done little better than OK given the fact he took over a club that had finished 2nd in the league. Statistically I can prove we have never regained that position under his FULL control since. (Note he took over half way through the last time we finished second). Once the dust settled we went from one fuck up to the next until 2001-2. From 2003-4 we have gone back to fucking up. Not the greatest record is it given what he was dealt when he took over? We deserve better. Micky Quinn was better than Frank Pingel but it didnt stop me wishing for Alan Shearer. Eventually we got him. You name me more than 4 clubs that have qualified for europe more than we have done in the last decade. Name me more than 4 clubs who have a higher average league position ? End of. PS If you prefer to swap Blackburn, Leicester and the smoggies League Cup success along with their relegations in return for our Champions League run, massively higher profile and standing, then OK But I wouldn't. The FACT is - Dan in his desperation [and naivety and therefore stupidity for not listening to others who know what a shite board is really like] to have a go at the board (Desperatate Dan ), whatever they do, is making up things. He says the club buy the vast majority of players before the transfer deadline, with no planning and strategy. So I supplied a list of the players we have signed over the last 3-4 years and the FACT is very few fit Desperate Dans ideology. Therefore he is talking a load of absolute shit, and the sooner he sees this - along with others - the better, which will co-incide with himself - and others - making more informed opinions. So, desperate dan, answer with factual replies, rather than stupid knee jerk opinons based on the fact you know shit all about this club pre-1992, what they have done for the club, and football generally, if you can. Anyone with a brain would form their opinions from facts. And the fact is - we have not had a manager as good as Keegan - but that doesn't make the current BOARD shite - particularly when it is almost the same board with the same majority shareholders anyway...which I have pointed out and amazingly - or stupidly - people STILL ignore. Just because the current chairman isn't as good as SJH [who got extremely lucky with Keegan actually] doesn't make him shit. .... What is your opinion on Shepherd being the first chairman of the club to hold his office and finish in the top 5 for 3 consecutive seasons since 1949-1951 ? And - WHO exactly do you think would come into the club, and have the desire, and the ability to guarantee that they would do better ? Why do you think such a thing is so automatic ? I will ask you this, as you appear to have a bit of a brain unlike some others ? It is interesting you say we had 3 managers who didn't understand the club. My own opinion tends to follow that line of thought too. Yet you have people who don't want Roeder but want Hitzfeld .... Then they say they want "track record managers and the club can't appoint them" forgetting about Dalglish who was as qualified as almost anyone in the world ....... and Gullit who showed promise........ Does Martin O'Neill understand the club ? Does Hiddink, Allardyce, Curbishley etc Is the criteria managers with track records ? If so, then idiots who say we don't appoint managers with track records or can't appoint them, or plainly talking out of their arse, if you consider these managers we have appointed. Conversely, those who say they want someone committed to the club but criticise Roeder for not being a "big name" are also talking out of their arse. Those who think the club has a bottomless pit of money are talking out of their arse. Those who think the chairman is to blame for the managers choice of players, are talking out of their arse. I have no idea if Glenn Roeder is the man for us but he has the job, and he is a damn sight better than the last wanker who had the job. After appointing - and attracting - a series of "big name managers" to the club - despite wankers who say the club can't do it - who have failed for different reasons, why criticise the club appointing a lower profile man with more pride in the club ? This is absolute proof that some idiot will criticise regardless. Give Roeder some time. Back his buys. If he spends his money well - the amount of money a good board running a good club can provide - then he will build a good team. Let him choose his players. He has bought 2 forwards because the club needed forwards. Let him put a defender on ice because he judged the forwards he bought as being good long term buys and trust him. Anyway, are we the 5th best club in the country over say, the last 5 years? Are we the 5th best club in the country at the moment? So have manu, Arsenal and Liverpool got shit boards because they have gone backwards since appearing in the European Cup Final etc etc........ You what? Where did I say that. Can you answer my questions though please?
LeazesMag 0
deny what leazes??? just in case you missed it first time around...try re-reading what i said below. i notice you continue to avoid my questions and i can only assume that as you're so thrilled by shepherd's tenure as chairman, you must also be content with our defence and new signings going into this new season. end of discussion tbh. you're entitled to continue in your moronic defence of shepherd. i'll pass the baton on to someone else. laters honestly. why do you insist on putting words in people's mouths in a feeble attempt to justify your cretinous defence of shepherd? where have i said i expected us to sign a team of superstars? all i expected was our chairman and manager to have some kind of plan in spending our limited budget. that means: * not spending it all on two attacking players, one of whom despite being a good player we didn't really need. Well, if you think Fred is so bad, despite 87 clubs behind us for a decade, maybe this [rich] man may be looking for a new club soon. http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/tm_...-name_page.html You say "we approach the window with little or nor strategy AGAIN " .... just examine the list of players I have listed and tell yourself all those players are indicative of a club with no strategy that always make panic buys near the transfer deadline ? If you still think this, you are a bigger idiot than I thought. And - like I said, as he is so shit, you should be able to name plenty of people who would be able to, and want to do better, so tell us who you have in mind. Firstly though, address the facts that I have posted and get your head out of the sand. What experience do you base your "current board is shit" opinion on ? Because it certainly isn't the overall facts and the clubs standing against everyone else. Are all those player panic buys, indicating a club with no strategy or not ? If you think so, please tell us how ? For the record, I have said the club needed forwards. The manager decided to spend his budget on 2 quality forwards ? What does that have to do with the board. This is Roeders choice, and my opinion is that if they produce the goods, he has got it spot on. A defender can come next. It is pointless you saying "are you happy with the defence" because if he had bought one forward and one defender, you would be saying "are you happy with Ameobi, Luque and one other player as the forwards". THE SIMPLE FACT IS THERE IS NO MONEY LEFT, THE SHITE BOARD HAVE BANKROLLED THEIR MANAGERS WITH A FORTUNE, DESPITE BEING A "SHITE" BOARD... AND IRONICALLY PEOPLE LIKE YOU DEMAND THE SHIT BOARD CONTINUE TO FIND MORE AND MORE YET STILL CALL THEM SHIT. Damned whatever they do, to those with zero grasp of reality. You're a scream mate. fuck me - you're right. i'm the one on this board who everyone's laughing at I am. And i reckon the others should be too ... Cheers for answering my questions and re-affirming the fact you are talking utter crap
