Renton 21048
Roeder is aware there is a list of players available because they are out of contract, but he is not interested. The list includes former Italian superstar Christian Vieri, Alan Shearer's former Blackburn sparring partner Chris Sutton, and Albert Luque's old mate Diego Tristan at Deportivo la Coruna. Roeder said: "There are reasons why these players are on this so-called list and the reasons are usually not good. "These players are not good enough for Newcastle United and any moves to bring them in would smack of desperation." Link here

fatfreddy 0
"Quite rightly, our expectations are so high but, when we don't get close enough to the success we are expecting, negativity creeps in," admitted Roeder. "Someone, sometime, will achieve the consistency we need. It just requires the people involved in the club to be positive."

No, it's more a case of fans who got used to it with Souness only looking for the things that Roeder says that they can put their own negative spin on and ignoring everything else he says. No, it's more a case of fans who got used to it with Souness only looking for the things that Roeder says that they can put their own negative spin on and ignoring everything else he says. Head in the sand. Not at all. But it just seems to me that Roeder is saying pretty much the same as he did at the back end of last year, but whereas then people were commending him for the parts that weren't like Souness, now they're looking for the bits that are and jumping on them. Gemmill 44107
Because at that stage we had faith in the other list. The one he was telling us was packed with players that we were in pole position to sign. We believed that he wasn't blowing smoke up our collective arses with all his talk of the 5 or 6 players he knew he needed to sign. Now we pretty much know he didn't know what he was talking about. Or he knew what he was talking about but wasn't good enough to get the job done and either bring in the players he initially identified, or identify alternatives if those deals didn't pan out. Now a lot of people are pretty much sick of listening to him.
