Gemmill 46013
Apparently it's just a precaution. You know the season's about to start when our players start to injure themselves though.

ewerk 31195
Republic of Ireland manager Steve Staunton has been dealt another injury problem ahead of the international friendly with The Netherlands tomorrow night. Damien Duff becomes the latest player to withdraw from the squad because he is not back to full fitness after a groin injury and has returned to Newcastle United for further treatment. Duff joins the likes of Robbie Keane, Shay Given, Richard Dunne and Ian Harte of the injury list, and it will be an under-strength side that Staunton announces tomorrow. 'Damien is going back to Newcastle, it is precautionary and not worth taking a chance, especially when Germany is only two and a half weeks away,' Staunton said. 'He just feels a wee bit of tightness in the groin and it is not worth the risk.' The Irish manager also confirmed that Blackburn Rovers midfielder Steven Reid will captain the side tomorrow night. Nothing to worry about, plus it means O'Brien may get his first cap.
Geordie Boyo 24
We've got Zoggy who we can always rely on if he isn’t involved against Wigan so it’s not all bad...!

Brock Manson 0
This is EXACTLY what happens if you buy a left winger whom we don't need instead of looking at a position we have been desperately in need of for 3 fucking seasons.

We've been looking at strikers all summer. Duff became available, a few days later we signed him. it didn't interfere with the striker search at all. Duff is one of the best left wingers in the country, I think it was an inspired bit of business with the bonus that he can play up front if needed. At £5m it was a deal not to be missed. And we've recouped most of the transfer fee by flogging Bowyer and Faye anyway. We will sign a striker man, I have no doubt. I DO doubt it'll be before this weekend now though.
