rikko 20
I want to go to Vegas, but cant afford it, and I think you have to be 21, to do anything good 175544 yeh if you're under 21 you are allowed in casinos but not allowed to stop walking or gamble. The Fish 10849
pretty sure I'm right. the rules toonpants presented were General rules and didn't make mention of this, quite particular, scenario. I'm pretty sure I'm right.

MattM4 0
Right, in three days/session I've gone from my initial 1,000 play money to almost 2,800. How does the game/level differ when you step up to the real stuff?
Rob W 0
I love Vegas like, but I've never had enough money to really do much gambling when I've been there. Some of the people knocking about the place though - Jesus wept. They all look about as healthy as that DevilFish bloke, and with similar fashion sense. 175200 I think Vegas is fantastic - never gamble of course but the place and the people are amazing if you drive from the downtown to the strip on one of the side roads you pass a fabulous building - very swish, lawns etc etc and a sign "las Vegas Italian-American Society" I'm sure it's also the place the "Friends of Italian Opera" (see "Some like it Hot") hang out too

The Fish 10849
quite happy to admit I'm not as confident in this regard as toonpants is, but I will stick to my doubts to his 100% accuracy. it strikes me that his way would create far too many split pots which is against the nature of the game. the way I've been taught reduces split pots... but until I can be arsed to e-mail Devil Fish or the like then by all means take Toonpants adamant statement. spongebob toonpants 3993
No you are just wrong. You make the best five card poker hand from your two hole cards and the five community cards. The nature of the game is to win the other blokes money, nothing more nothing less

spongebob toonpants 3993
right here you go. the board is AAKKK you hold Q3 your oponent has Q2 In your opinion who wins?
The Fish 10849
your point - " the object is to win the other guys money, nothing more" my point "Split pot doesn't win you the other guys money" I KNOW that you make the best five card hand from the 7 available cards, but I'm sure that I was taught that in that particular sitatuion described (where the best hand is identical for two players unless they use both cards in their pocket.) it's not a split pot and instead both players play their pocket cards. if this is a subtle difference in the way we've been taught then that's fine, but I'm so arrogant in this regard to say that you're 100% wrong and I'm !00% right. but rather that I'm pretty certain that the way I've described reduces the number of split pots and therefore stays more true to the idea of Poker... the point you make " the object is to win the other guys money, nothing more" The way I've been taught you win the guys money, your way you split the pot with the other guy. spongebob toonpants 3993
so who wins in this example right here you go. the board is AAKKK you hold Q3 your oponent has Q2 In your opinion who wins? 176194

As such you win. can you see the logic in the way I've been taught?

The Fish 10849
seriously man, I'm not saying "you're wrong I'm right" I'm saying that the way I've been taught reduces split pots which is in-keeping with the idea of the game. your way might be right, but as I've said pretty much throughout this thread I'm "pretty sure" which incidently does not mean "I'm 100% sure" tell a man black is white his whole life he'll believe it to be true.
