I NEVER win with AK. :drinks:

Pisses me off as well cos I'll always raise preflop with it and end up losing to a low pair or get chased out the hand when it becomes apparent that I'm not gonna get anywhere with it.

I'm merely constructing a poker persona to lure you into my trap. Or something.

They don't check anything.  I mean it'll be part of the T&Cs when you sign up, but I didn't bother reading anything.  You basically will just be falsely declaring that you're 21, but the chances of them actually sussing you are canny small.

What happens when he goes to cash out and they require a passport/drivers license? He can purposefully lose it all to someone else for a small fee, I suppose.

He makes a player transfer to me.

Some dickhead was on there the other night intentionally losing hands to people that were complaining they had no money, and making player transfers to anyone who asked nicely and would promise to play him heads-up. Strange child.

I've played someone liek that before, he raised every hand, if you reraised him he folded, took $100 off him, when I only had 1.59, when he joined the table. Then I went on the casino, and lost it all.

I was watching a $25/50 NL earlier, some people seem very keen to throw away their money.

I've ordered some poker books today, so I'm reading a bit online until they come.  Stumbled across this lad's blog, is it just me or is he being a bit of a spanner?

He's complaining that the bloke called him with A6, fair enough, but he's still gone all in, pre flop, with an AK* off suit.  Even with 5 players that seems...adventurous, and if I'm reading the actions of the pot winner correctly, he thinks the player with the shortest stack is taking a risk and he can significantly reduce the distance between himself and the leader.

*I heard this referred to an "Anna Kournikova" for the first time recently, because it looks good but never wins.

Annoying Beat And Donk Hands

I have to say that poker is very frustrating sometimes. Today I got down to 2 tables with a stack in the midnight $109. Hand for hand, which I will write more about later, of course ensures the blinds double once per round and I couldn’t pick up anything. We get down to 11 and I'm low but not hopeless when this hand happens:

Party Poker No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t4000 (5 handed) converter

IBustChumps (t23429)

SB (t53612)

BB (t30749)

UTG (t44956)

MP (t114987)

Preflop: IBustChumps is Button with Ks, Ad.

UTG raises to t8000, 1 fold, IBustChumps raises to t23429 (All-In), 2 folds, UTG (thinks forever) calls t15429.

Flop: (t52858) Th, 6h, 3c (2 players, 1 all-in)

Turn: (t52858) 4d (2 players, 1 all-in)

River: (t52858) Jc (2 players, 1 all-in)

Final Pot: t52858

Results:

UTG has Kd 6s (one pair, sixes).

IBustChumps has Ks Ad (high card, ace).

Outcome: UTG wins t52858.

Completely standard hand. AK bloke has less than ten BB so is in push or fold mode. AK is always best all in so you can see all five cards. Original raiser only had to call 15000 to win 52858, he should never fold.

Some good info there, can you explain the bit in bold to me please? What about his reaction to the winner? Sour grapes?

Yeah, he had 9 4 suited. had a 30% chance or so of hitting it, he raised for 100, i put him all in for 1600, as I knew he was chasing cards, and I gave him odds not to call, but the fucker called didnt he.

AK will hit about 2/3 of the time on the flop, about 50% of the time with all five cards. When you are that short stacked you cant afford to fold if you miss with the first three cards so you are better of getting all the money in preflop. Add to that the 10% of the time the other player actually folds to your raise and allin preflop is the best way to play

So I guess the psychology is you want them to fold, but if they don't you still have a decent chance over 5 cards? Because if you're willing to bet all your chips, you can always see the 5 cards, right?

Is that 2/3 supposed to be 1/3, or am I misunderstanding something? I'm assuming it's 2/3 of 50%, 33% overall?

your right about it all there, cept, the last part, which you have 50% of hitting something when all 5 cards are dealt.
