Sol Campbell to leave?

Philippe Christanval claims England international Sol Campbell wants to leave Arsenal.

French defender Christanval spent pre-season training with The Gunners after cancelling his contract with Marseille earlier in the summer.

Though the centre half impressed Arsene Wenger, the Arsenal boss did not offer his compatriot a deal due to being sufficiently stocked in the defensive department.

Christanval, though, has not relinquished hope of moving to Highbury as he has yet to speak to Wenger about his failed trial.

The stopper has revealed a decision on being handed a contract in North London hinges on the future of Campbell.

The former Tottenham Hotspur ace is currently injured but Christanval has claimed that Campbell has asked to quit the club.

Campbell was left out of the starting line-up for last season's FA Cup final, having been injured in the months leading up to the win over Manchester United.

Now, Christanval has suggested that Campbell wants to move on but Arsenal are yet to receive any firm offers for the England stalwart.

"I am still waiting for an answer," commented Christanval about his prospects with Arsenal.

"I know Arsene confirmed on the club's website it won't be settled but he didn't call me yet.

"During the pre-season period, Arsene told me he was keen to sign me but only if he parts with one of his central defenders.

"Sol Campbell asked to leave.

"Considering what I know, he hasn't had any concrete propositions yet.

"But the transfer window is not closed yet. I still have hope for Arsenal.

"England has the most exciting league to me. Arsenal asked me to join them for a training period - that is not for nothing."

Christanval's on a free and we bring in Moore?  Like to know the reasoning behind that one.

ok thats an easy one, why would a decent defender want to join newcastle at the minute? Moore on the other hand..

We should be in for him, I know he's not bound by the transfer window regulations at the moment but he'll want to find a club asap.

If Arsenal don't want him we may have a shot, although Liverpool are looking to strengthen in that area.
