Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle United are watching and waiting to see if Ashley Cole moves across London from Arsenal to Chelsea this week. For if he does then Chelsea's England international Wayne Bridge will again find himself second-choice left-back at Stamford Bridge. And I hear that if he is, then Bridge would love to join his former Chelsea colleagues Celestine Babayaro, Scott Parker and Damien Duff at St James' Park. Everybody knows that a couple of strikers are Glenn Roeder's priorities and that this is something everyone from Freddy Shepherd down is working on almost non-stop at the moment with the Premiership opener with Wigan Athletic just 11 days away. But as in the case with Thomas Gravesen, who many United supporters would love to join them from Real Madrid, Roeder cannot pass up the opportunity to sign a quality player. Bridge - he was 26 last Saturday - cost Chelsea £7m when he joined them from his local club Southampton exactly three years ago. But there is no way Chelsea would be looking for anywhere near this amount, especially as relations are so cordial between Stamford Bridge and St James' Park these days. Bridge, who has 23 England caps, was farmed out on loan to Fulham last season. And he must have thought that, with Asier del Horno having been sold to Valencia last month, he was going to be first-choice left-back again for Jose Mourinho, who incidentally was sat next to Glenn Roeder at yesterday's meeting of the Premiership managers. However, the impending arrival of Ashley Cole will mean more disappointment for Bridge and he would not take much persuading to head north to Tyneside. Mourinho has such a big squad that he can afford to let players go and there is still a slim chance that United might get Shaun Wright-Phillips on loan from Chelsea before the transfer window slams shut again at the end of the month. Chelsea agreed to let Hernan Crespo returned to Italy and Inter Milan yesterday and this could eventually lead to United finally signing a striker that Roeder would love to see in a black-and-white shirt. For before Crespo's signature was even dry on the transfer form Inter striker Obafemi Martins slapped in a transfer request, and this will interest Roeder. The United boss and his assistant Kevin Bond watched the Nigerian striker in the Amsterdam Tournament over the weekend and he has something United are crying out for - the pace to get behind opposing defences. Meanwhile, Gravesen was left out of the Real Madrid squad which went to America yesterday, and with only the results of Amady Faye's medical holding up his £2m move to Charlton Athletic, the way is surely clear for the Danish international to join his former Bernabeu colleague Michael Owen at St James' Park. wykikitoon 20734
Would be nice if we can get him a centre back and a foward before the window closes.

No there isnt alan! 172657 I've often wondered exactly what this transfer window looks like? Sash? UPVC? Like French windows perhaps? And, will it necessarily 'slam' shut? Does D'ohliver actually know it will slam shut or is he, once again, making it all up??
Bombadil 0
How much is Anal wanking over SWP and Martins? 172663 He only ever wanks over English players. Martins is just a good striker with a lot of pace according to him.
