Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle are reported to be weighing up a move for Dutch international Tim de Cler. Reports emanating from Holland claim Newcastle are ready to test AZ Alkmaar's resolve to hang on to the defender. Magpies boss Glenn Roeder and his scouting staff took in two games in Holland over the weekend as they look at prospective new signings. One of the games that came under the gaze of Newcastle's scouting team was AZ Alkmaar's friendly with Arsenal. It is now believed that de Cler was the subject of Newcastle's interest in that game on Friday. Roeder is keen to bolster his defence and a new left back is thought to be one of his top priorities. De Cler has established himself as a key component in the AZ side and is now a member of the Dutch national team. Feyenoord have also expressed an interest in de Cler, but Newcastle could now be ready to rival them for his signature. The Magpies are also thought to be keen on de Cler's team-mate Joris Mathijsen with Jean-Alain Boumsong expected to leave St James' Park in the near future. Guest Patrokles
where's that from? It just sounds like a clubcall/teamtalk-esque rehash of a single casual sentence in the Journal/Chronicle.
