Brock Manson 0
Obafemi Martins. 171155 Good to see Butt answer some critics. Hopefully his two goals with give him a boot up the arse so we don't have a ginger waster on our books...or tempt someone to take him off our hands. 171158 The majority of the crowd at St James Park were kids. Infact, around 95% percent were kids, and its for that reason only, I won't be attending anymore friendly games 171159 I hear that they were also enjoying the game. GOD I HATE IT WHEN PEOPLE DO THAT. The nerve! 171165 If we still had Souness he'd sort them out. Frustrate the crowd tbf tbs.

The Fish 10978
Milner and Zog must start Duff behind the striker Parker and Butt ahead of Emre Luque should be sold asap We STILL need a center half and two full backs
Guest Patrokles
Although I'd like to see both Duff and N'Zogbia in the side, I really wouldn't drop Emre, he's the single classiest player we have, and up there with Duff in terms of creativity (in a different way). He suffers at the moment because there's fuck all in front of him.
Guest 1-4
Emre the classiest player we have? He is an over-rated dollop of Turkish delight. He goes hiding away from home and wastes the ball way too many times. NZogbia and Parker in the center for me anyday, Emre can fuck off for all I care. Thanks for the Sunderland goal. Bye. Gemmill 46195
Slightly surprised to hear Rocker's "I won't go to friendlies because there are too many kids" comments after his "It's great that the kids get to see their heros train" comments the other day. So they can watch them train as long as they don't get any ideas about attending the matches?
Rob W 0
well it proved the value of friendlies againsy DECENT opposition - we now know we REALLY need a defender as well as a CF and that aginst fast moving continental opposition we're going to be in for a torrid time and it was a great game - better than a run in the park against Gretna or Carlisle

At least the kids who went to the open day had to be escorted by an adult, these ones were wild, man.

Geordie Boyo 24
We need players of Emre’s quality in the squad. Whether or not he'll be starting most games remains to be seen, but he certainly offers quality in attack and his work-rate is something valued too. Zoggy can not play in central midfield. He looks lost when we play him there which is pointless when he can offer what he does on the left-wing. All though I'm delighted we've signed Duff I am surprised too with the pace we already have there in Zoggy and possibly O'Brien, but he's very versatile and like Emre a quality player to have in your squad which is what we need more than anything this season. Guest alex
Not based on Saturday but I'm not convinced Enre and Parker work together. Emre has some nice touches and takes a good free kick but I think he flatters to deceive a lot of the time and goes missing in games too. On his day he's a good player but I'm not sure being one of a central two suits his game. Edited August 7, 2006 by alex
sweetleftpeg 0
I've been saying this about Emre for awhile, he looks pretty but he doesn't actually do very much, apart from a decent free kick here and there. Drops too deep imo.
Guest Patrokles
I have to disagree about Emre. Although I do maybe think that the team is better without an Emre-Parker central midfield partnership. But Emre has great touch, doesn't get knocked off the ball, has shown decent workrate this pre-season, etc, etc. To be fair, considering last season was his first, and it was interrupted by injuries and handicapped by having Souness in charge, I think he's shown more than enough.
