The Magpies have been linked with the 27-year-old in the past few days, and his agent Stefano Guercini has now confirmed that talks with the Tyneside club are due to take place, and that the player will also be speaking to three other clubs. Guercini said: "Newcastle are one of the clubs interested in Francesco. "There are three other clubs along with Newcastle. I hope to talk with them all this weekend. "We are hopeful something will be done." Toon manager Glenn Roeder is desperate to sign a striker before the start of the new season with only Shola Ameobi and Alberto Luque fit and available to lead the line. Tavano has scored 38 goals in the last two seasons and has been linked with moves to Inter Milan, Valencia and Shakhtar Donetsk, but Guercini admitted that the player would like the chance to play in England. "Of course Francesco would love to play in the Premiership," he added on Sky. "It is a dream for most players and he would certainly like the chance."
