Gemmill 44046
For Man United to buy Carrick, according to the stock exchange announcement. Absolutely crazy money and unfortunately it gives Spurs a nice little transfer kitty with a month of the transfer window to go. It might scupper any chance we have of getting Defoe as well if they were reluctantly selling him to drum up some cash. Or if we do get him, it'll leave them with nigh on £30m to spend. manc-mag 1
Aye-good buy but that is silly money tbh. Not going to get their new Roy Keane unless and until the sign Gatusso tbh. Might at least shut the whinging dickheads up for a minute, complaining about Chelsea 'buying' the Prem etc etc. Cos £18 million's small change innit?! ZZZzzZzzZzz change record. Tom 14011
That makes Duff more of a bargain for us. £18.5 is silly money for Carrick, he's nowhere near that good.
sweetleftpeg 0
On a related note, the pressures on Jenas now he doesn't have Carrick next to him. Luckily he's still got Davids to do the dirty work.

Jimbo 172
Parker for £6m or Carrick for £18.6m. hhmmm let me think about that one.....

Excerpt from Sky's 2nd ManUre fixture of the season: "That 18.6 million is starting to look like a bargain, Sir Alex" *sound of nose embedded in fudge*
Tom 14011
Yeh i suppose we got Parker and Duff for £11m , which is good work.
Shearergol 0
I think Carrick is a quality player, and we missed the boat when Bobby tried to sign him. Not worth that much though, but Spurs didn't want to sell him, and Man United desperately wanted him. It's not so much the value of the player, but the necessity to pay the money. Pegasus Bridge 0
Maybe, one day, we may nuture some untapped talent and raw talent, only for one of the big four to splash out obscenely on him ... **Cough-Charlie-Cough**

He's not worth it, but neither's Carrick. Imagine what we could do with £18.6m spare now though.

Bombadil 0
The annoying thing about this transfer is that it gives our biggest current rivals almost £20m to spend. I'd rather he'd stayed at Spurs, he's not that good.
