There are no budget flights there though, are there? And the sea can be a bit choppy in October. Brussels by Eurostar is nice as well btw.

I'd avoid the red light district apart from druing the day when it's ok from a voyeuristic point of view. I'd still have a go at the weed there though, as it's normally top-notch. Jet2 fly dead cheap there from Newcastle now. The ferry is shit though, for all sorts of reasons.

The Fish 10965
if you've got the money, time and inclination I'd definitely suggest Florence. comparatively cheap, LOADS to see and it's generally got good weather. don't know if you can fly direct, but I got a flight from Stanstead to Milan for £25 and the Italian train system is cheap and punctual and easy to use. I'm not as keen on Paris as the more provincial places tbh though, and can imagine it will be fairly unbearable in the recent heat wave. Now Germans - that's a different matter entirely. Renton 22001
Best accent on a woman though. Surely that is an undisputed factamundo. Like most places, I find the French too be very nice people if you make the effort to parlez their language.

I think that is true for most places though, I for one do my best to learn at least one or two phrases in the dominant language of wherever I'm going. I couldn't begin to understand the grammar or anything, but I can rattle off a few words with the right inflections and the like.. does get you into trouble when they think you know more and you're stuck gaping like Moray Eel tbh
