Scottish Mag 3
Newcastle United are rumoured to have joined Portsmouth in the quest to sign Senegal defender Souleymane Diawara. Reports in France claim the Sochaux stopper is under consideration by The Magpies, who are keen to strengthen their squad. Doubts persist over the future of Jean-Alain Boumsong and Diawara has been put forward as a suitable replacement at centre half. Portsmouth have already held talks regarding a deal for the 27-year-old, with Sochaux willing to sell at the right price. There could now be competition for Diawara's signature, following the French speculation claiming interest from St James' Park. The Senegal international has spent the past three seasons with Sochaux, having previously made his name with Le Havre.
Guest Fog on the Tyne
His agent is probably Mckay if Portsmouth and Newcastle are mentioned together. We need strikers not stoppers.
