Gemmill 46141
Newcastle's Michael Owen must wait for swelling in his injured right knee to go down before having the next stage of surgery to cure his injury problems. Owen underwent an operation to repair cartilage damage rather than his cruciate ligament problem, and is scheduled for treatment in September. "I have to make sure the knee is in a fit state and the swelling is down," Owen told The Sun. "That way I give myself the best chance of having the cruciate operation." Owen has been operated on by famed American knee specialist Dr Richard Steadman in Colorado. "The plan is to go back out there in six or seven weeks - hopefully, that will be the last I see of America," he said. "Maybe then there will be light at the end of the tunnel and I can head for a comeback." Owen missed half of last season with a broken foot, and now faces missing a substantial part of the next campaign with his new injury. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/t...ted/5186514.stm Splendid.
