Paul 0
Celtic linked to striker Tristan Spanish club Deportivo La Coruna say that Celtic have enquired about signing international striker Diego Tristan. Deportivo president Augusto Lendoiro said: "It is probable that there will be news in the next few days. He (Tristan) will probably go abroad. "The interest from Benfica is certain, as is that from Sporting Lisbon and Celtic. Although, in each case, it would be necessary to negotiate." The 30-year-old moved from Mallorca to Deportivo six years ago for £12m. And reports suggest that the powerful forward would now be available for around £2m. Earlier, Celtic manager Gordon Strachan vowed to spend "wisely" in his search for a new striker. Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink joined Charlton Athletic after the Scottish champions were unable to match his wage demands. And Celtic boss Strachan said: "We have three strikers in Craig Beattie, Maciej Zurawski and Kenny Miller. "We need at least four, so we are looking at options within our finances and we will use our finances wisely." Celtic freed up some wages by selling John Hartson to West Bromwich Albion for £500,000. But the fact that Charlton were able to outbid Celtic for Hasselbaink as he left Middlesbrough suggests that Tristan may also be outwith their resources. Tristan has been capped 14 times for Spain, scoring three times, but the last of those appearances came three years ago. Scotland striker Kenny Miller, who joined Celtic in the summer from Wolverhampton Wanderers, insists he would welcome more competition for places. "There is a group of good young forwards here, while we also have Maciej who has a bit more experience," he said. "Celtic will always be linked with new players as well, but I look forward to the challenge. "I've come here to win things and, hopefully, score lots of goals." khay 10
Think he fits the category of Fat Cat. If he was a couple years younger i would say take a chance.
Guest Fog on the Tyne
Not really, he was poor against us in the Intertoto. Probably would be worse than Luque.
