Scottish Mag 3
NEWCASTLE United chairman Freddy Shepherd has told fans not to pay too much attention to all the recent transfer tabloid tales. Throughout the close season, the Magpies have found themselves being linked to a string of high-profile players, and those stories have escalated recently. But while the club remains committed to strengthening the squad, it has little control over outside media sources and what they choose to publish. Mr Shepherd told nufc.co.uk: "Once again Newcastle United is finding itself being linked with various players in the newspapers. "But the club wishes to make it perfectly clear to supporters that all of this recent speculation has absolutely nothing to do with us and that it's out of our control. "Throughout the close season we have seen ourselves supposedly having met or moved for certain players, when there is nothing in it. Unfortunately though, outside speculation will always happen, particularly during the close season, and there is little you can do about it. "The summer really is the silly season in many respects. You could find yourself having to comment on speculation every day of the week, and we're not prepared to do that. "Our fans should know that and not pay too much attention to what's being written. As always, when we have something to announce, we'll do it through the official channels."

rikko 20
NUFC doesn't comment on transfer speculation... 157730[/snapback] The most stupid thing about that comment is they do comment on transfer speculation. Hasselbaink being the prime example. What they mean is we don't comment on players we intend on signing or at least thats what it seems like to me. There is ofcourse the big player clause which makes us respond whether we are interested or not just to boost the fatmans ego.
catmag 337
The fat man loves transfer speculation as it's another excuse to get his smarmy fat face on the television to tell us that it's all just specualation. Cock.
