Geordie Boyo 24
It's a canny spot, mainly because it's close to the ground and nee fecker goes there cos it's shite 156921 It's got none of the charm of The Gate like Anyway, it was my haunt before all these sad bastards started tagging along. I wish they'd all fuck off back to the Union Rooms tbh 156940 Rarely go to the Gate these days. If I do it's normally the Sports Bar - Players, Aspers Casino or the Chinese buffet place, Wokmania. I heard that Nando's is great though so might give them a try. *drools* http://www.thegatenewcastle.co.uk/venues/nandos.aspx 156955 Nando's is lush 156975 Just another souless chain tbh. In charver central too. 156980 I don't think I've ever seen one charver in the Gate. In the Pigg Market & Icon, but it's manily students and just lads & lasses out for a laugh. Charver centrel? Total crap, mate.

Guest alex
The Keel Row or whatever it's called was wall-to-wall charvers the one Frdiay night I went in there. Been in a fair few times on a Thursday after 5-a-side and you get a canny few in there then too. It's cheap though

I think that's down to the fact the place has a swanky look to it so they aren't too confident on getting in where as the Pigg Market is a home from home. Never really drink at Lloyds anymore. Always looks too cramped & packed all though like you say it is cheap enough, but then again the Sports Bar was only £1 a bottle last time I was there and all though it is pretty dark in there like Lloyds there always seems to be less in which is probably down to the fact that nee fecker knows it's there, tbh...! It's not my cup of char but it's not Charver Central. That's more the Biggie and (increasingly) parts of the Quayside.

Charver centrel? Total crap, mate. 157015 Actually inside it's not too bad (I think they may have some security) - but I walk past the front of it most days and outside is packed with burberry riff raff. They spread up from the Bigg market up Newgate to the gate. And then there's the older, frightening psychos that spread down from the Grainger market pub area. It's actually not uncommon to see fights outside the Gate - even during the day: FACT The gate is best avoided imo - although there is a canny bar/cafe downstairs (expensive), the Spice cube (which is OK) and the cinema. Plus, every city has a "Gate" nowadays - the whole country is becoming one monotonous international (i.e. American) conglomeration. If you like that then fine, otherwise I suggest boycotting the place.

Guest Toplass-101
I've only ever been in the Trent when we're all meeting there, never just been for the fun of it, and cant really imagine that it would be much fun without us there tbh. I'll look out for your scrawl on the wall Ragi, and put as suitable response if I can find it. Watched the match last weekend in the Pitcher, I like it in there if you can get on the comfy seats. I think people who havent seen all the chavs in the gate have just been pissed! Does anyone know anywhere except Sam Jacks that sells Desperado ? (fingers crossed one of yaz does, as I dont like that pub).

geordieshandy 0
I think Bar 55 sell desperados and I'm sure I've seen it in Chase on the Quayside. Spent last Saturday in the Waterline, not too busy i.e. you could get to the bar but there was enough banter to keep it worthwhile. Have a habit of watching matches in the Duke if it's up to me like.
