Mags 1
Dunno if you have it there but there's a soda here stateside- Mountain Dew aka Goat's piss. Hate it normally, but it's my standby hangover cure- tons of sugar, caffeine and the like. Sorts the aching head right out amazingly well.

They make hangovers look like a birthday present. 155606 Essentially, all a hangover is is hypoglycaemia and dehydration so you need to redress the balance. The headache comes from reduction of fluid around the brain, so basically you need lots of water or dilutey juice before bed, more fluid and carbs (to bring the blood sugar levels back up) the morning after and some painkillers for the heed. If you're the type that gets bad stomachs then some kind of antacid like Zantac is handy too.

Mind I don't think it would do me any good- the heaves come from having a headache full stop. Any headache other than a mild one will have me hurling regardless of the trigger. donaldstott 0
I don't actually believe there is anything that will magically vanish away a hangover. I have tried them all. I see it that there are two choices: 1) Get back on the sauce quick. 2) Suffer til about 4pm, then take an alka-seltzer, and you'll be right as rain within half an hour. This applies for drinking that stops circa midnight, any later/earlier work forward or back accordingly. The golden rule though, never have a hangover on your own time, that is what work is for... adios 717
A bong 155710 The board's very own Howard Marks. That's somewhat of a cure, and a good one, but not prevention. I do tend to pour multi-vitamins into my face before I pass out, as basically every nutrient in your body seems to be pissed out, and that helps quite a bit. Very seldom necessary now, anyway, I'm too old for it. Anyone who says you can't prevent a hangover with good maintenance before bed, I can't agree. I religiously drink 2 litres of water before bed, no matter how pissed I am, it really helps; and when you crave something with a hangover, there's a reson for it. But the effects are generally not physical with me, I just end up on a really paranoid buzz. Anyway, cheers for all the advice, catmag.

No way would I drink 2 litres of water before going to bed though - for fear of pissing myself.

It wakes me up in the middle of the night so I can have some more water and nutrients depending on severity. Bladder of an ox tbh. Don't talk to me about blackout paranoia! And I usually had been obnoxious to someone; luckily I did most of my drinking in a country that celebrates drunken arseholes.
Guest alex
I hate the memory loss like, although I rarely get that drunk these days. It's hammering the spirits that does it I reckon.

Mind I hate getting out of bed in the middle of the night for a piss. I was in Rome last weekend where they have a completely different attitude to drinking. The thing is, this actually makes me drink less - I'm happy to chill out sipping a glass of beer or wine there, whereas here it's ust a question of drinking gallons of lager and getting mortal. Another reason I'm currently trying to work out how I can move to your neck of the woods (South France, Italy, or Spain). Bit of a pipe dream at present though.
