Scottish Mag 3
MIDDLESBROUGH are prepared to let Mark Viduka leave the Riverside for £3million. New Boro boss Gareth Southgate is reviewing his squad and is now ready to cash in on Viduka's starring role in Australia's run to the last 16 at the World Cup. Viduka, 30, has one year left on his £45,000-a-week contract and Southgate is reluctant to hand the striker a multi-million pound extension. A £4.5m signing from Leeds two years ago, Viduka (right) said before leaving for Germany this summer that he faced an uncertain future, despite scoring 16 goals last season during Boro's march to the UEFA Cup Final. Those concerns have proved to be warranted because the Teessiders are now encouraging offers for him. Viduka would prefer to stay in the Premiership because he and his family are settled in North Yorkshire. Potential destinations are Blackburn and Newcastle. Rovers boss Mark Hughes wants a target man like Viduka, although the former Celtic star's wages may put him off.
Woodgate27 0
Starring role? He played well in holding the ball up but his distribution was very poor, and surprise surprise, he didn't score! Starring role my arse.
Matt 0
For a player with his record on injuries, £3m and £45k a week should be enough to put us off. We can't afford to dole out massive wages for fun.
