Kid Dynamite 7366
Ive just bought myself a car P/X from a local garage. Im going to pick it up on saturday but ive got to sort out the paperwork on mine but i dont know what to do. How do i go about claiming back my insurance on my current car? It also has a personalised number plate. Obviously i have to re-register the car in the old number plates but whos name do i register it to? Im stuck
Jimbo 175
You need to contact your insurer to sort out any settlement for you old insurance. As for the plate, do you need to change it ? or is the seller keeping it ?

Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
Ring your insurer and tell them what you have bought, they will adjust your premiums accordingly. Not sure about the private plate, but I would start by ringing the DVLA or looking at their website.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
It might be worth keeping the private plate on it, if you bought it with the car. You might be able to sell the plate on at a later date, and make a bit of cash. Edited June 22, 2006 by Dr Kenneth Noisewater
Kid Dynamite 7366
The thing is, i can get cheaper insurance with a different company. I just want to cancel it so that i dont have to pay the next 2 months. As for the number plate, its mine. Its got my initials on so i dont want to be px'ing it with that plate. I want to keep that for the new car i just bought
