Scottish Mag 3
Chelsea forward Eidur Gudjohnsen is reportedly close to joining Barcelona with only a transfer fee required to seal the deal. The Iceland international has concurred on a three-year deal with the Catalan giants with the option of a fourth season. Barca are believed to have offered The Blues around €10 million (£6.8 million), although Chelsea want nearer €15 million (£10 million) for the former Bolton man. The Spanish champions look to have beaten off for Gudjohnsen's services, with Real Madrid, Manchester United, Arsenal and Middlesbrough all keen on the forward. Barca also have an eye on another player in the shape of England international Frank Lampard and are believed to have made an enquiry. However, Chelsea are likely to have swiftly rejected the move, even with Deco possibly on offer in exchange.

David Kelly 1260
At least it might clear the way for us to go for Kuit. Though no doubt we will probably have to make do with someone like Hartson!

curry stained pilchard 0
From the BBC... Gudjohnsen passes Barca medical Gudjohnsen is seen as a direct replacement for Henrik Larsson Chelsea striker Eidur Gudjohnsen is on the verge of agreeing a four-year deal at Barcelona after passing a medical at the Nou Camp. The Spanish giants have already reached an agreement to sign the 27-year-old Icelandic striker. It is thought this season's La Liga and Champions League winners will pay in the region of £8m for a player that cost Chelsea £4m six years ago. He is expected to be officially unveiled at Barca later on Wednesday. Gudjohnsen scored a total of 86 goals in 263 Blues appearances. Italian Gianfranco Zola is the only non-British player to have played more games for the club. Andriy Shevchenko's £30m arrival had forced Gudjohnsen further down the Chelsea pecking order, while Barca were keen for a direct replacement for Henrik Larsson, who has left to play in his native Sweden next season. Barcelona, who clinched their second La Liga title in a row last month, have been on the trail of several strikers. But their attempts to land Arsenal's Thierry Henry and Diego Forlan of Villarreal were thwarted as Newcastle United have had a bid for Henry accepted, thought to be in the region of £26m. Barcelona captain Carles Puyol welcomed the club's latest signing ahead of Spain's World Cup opener against Ukraine on Wednesday. He told Mundo Deportivo newspaper: "I've played against him and he's a great player. He's fast, quick, scores goals and could be really good for us." Ok, so I spiced it up a bit... Albert Kirkey 0
At least if he goes to la liga he won't be able to score against us, as he always seemed to do over the years. Cracking player, but I don't think we can afford quality like that any more
