Paul 0
http://www.worldcup365.com/story/0,16726,8...1263885,00.html RADIO ONE BANS ENGLAND SONGS? If the political equation of Britain wasn't ridiculous enough, BBC Radio One has reportedly been banned from airing songs that mention 'England' during the World Cup in case they upset Scottish, Welsh and Irish sensibilities. 'Bands who use the E word will get the red card from the station's all-important playlist,' reports The Daily Mirror, and quotes a Radio 1 source complaining: "We have been told songs that contain the word England repeatedly can't be put on the playlist because we don't want to upset anyone who isn't English. It's ridiculous." Almost as ridiculous as having a Scottish Home Secretary, voted in to the Westminster Parliament by a Scottish constituency, making laws that only affect English and Welsh voters on such issues as education, crime and transport but having no influence on such matters in Scotland, and in his own constituency, because responsibility for home affairs north of Hadrian's Wall has been devolved to a Scottish Parliament. Fuck off man Seriously though, if this is true it is outrageous
manc-mag 1
Is the 'E' word Embrace?
Brock Manson 0
A good 90% of what they play on Radio 1 should be banned tbh.

The Fish 10978
apparenlty that's bollocks made up by the Mirror The truth is (amazingly enough) the "England" songs are just shit and won't be played. only the Embrace track is being played because depressingly, it's the one least likely to make grown men remove their ears by tying their lobes to two carthorses and launching a ferret up their respective rusty bullet wounds. However I'm willing to bet all the sausage in Germany that Three Lions, World in Motion and even "Back Home" will be played ad nauseum.
sweetleftpeg 0
Well, I heard 'World in Motion' on Radio 1 the other day so me thinks the press are not telling the whole truth.
Toonraider 0
Must be the media stirring it. Wish they would ban the Embrace track, i thought it might grow on me, but its dire.

Meenzer 15742
I reckon they're banning them for being of inferior quality, you know.
Guest alex
I reckon they're banning them for being of inferior quality, you know. 145244[/snapback] Surely that would be against the normal policy of the station.
Meenzer 15742
On second thoughts, it could just be because they're not very good.
