Scottish Mag 3
SAM ALLARDYCE is preparing to launch an audacious attempt to bring bad boy Nicolas Anelka back to the Premiership. Allardyce is ready to make a £5million bid for Fenerbahce striker Anelka and ensure Bolton becomes the Frenchman's fourth Premiership club. The Bolton boss is desperate for a big-name signing after missing out on Andy Johnson. Anelka was dubbed "Le Sulk" during his time at Arsenal but Allardyce has a proven record at taming troublesome stars and believes he can work his magic again. The move has the full backing of chairman Phil Gartside, who knows he has to fund big signings to keep Allardyce happy. The Reebok boss has grown increasingly frustrated at the transfer policy he believes is holding the club back. But the fact that he was allowed to bid £8m for Johnson - who eventually chose Everton - and is now to make a move for Anelka shows Bolton mean business. Anelka has played for the Gunners, Liverpool and Manchester City
