The Italian match-fixing trial has come to a close, with judge Cesare Ruperto and the Federal Appeal Commission now retiring to the council rooms to consider their verdict.

A judgement could be reached as early as Monday

we're fighting with every team who finished in the European spots for those guys.

Wouldn't surprise me if they went to an English, Spanish or French team on loan for a season then returned to their team when they returned to the top flight, instead of a permanent deal.

If any of them go down, I'd like to see us at least try for one of the bigger names...

Even on loan would have me satisfied.

Think that maybe the way things go if those clubs get relagated by only one league. Loan out the top players for one year, then get them back. However, it would take those clubs another year to get back into Europe if were to get promoted straight away...

The clubs invloved in this must already know their punishment. How can Fiorentina go and spend £5.5million with the threat of relegation over them?

Is Peter Ridsdale in charge over there?

Juve appoint Deschamps as coach

Former France captain Didier Deschamps has become the new coach of Juventus as the Italian club remains embroiled in an ongoing match-fixing trial.

Deschamps, who won the 1998 World Cup with France as well as three league titles and a Champion's League title at Juventus, has signed a two-year deal.

The 37-year-old former Monaco boss replaces Fabio Capello, who quit last week to join Real Madrid.

Juventus are among four clubs facing the threat of relegation from Serie A.

Deschamps said last month that the side had asked him to join as coach if they were relegated to the second-tier Serie B as a punishment.

No decision has yet been made on any relegation, but a judge in Rome will decide the fate of Juventus, AC Milan, Lazio and Fiorentina this week.

Deschamps won three Italian titles, one Italian Cup, two Italian Supercups and a second Champions League title while playing at Juventus between 1994 and 1998.

He also captained France to victory at the 1998 World Cup and Euro 2000.

He was appointed Monaco coach in 2001, taking them to the Champions League final three years later before stepping down in 2005 following a poor run.

Juve released a statement on Monday, saying: "Juventus confirm the signing of coach Didier Deschamps on a two-year contract, valid until 30 June 30 2008."

If they do loan their top players out there is no guarantee they will be promoted straight away, especially with 3 of them vying for the promotion places and facing a heavy points deduction next year.
