Jimbo 175
By SHAUN CUSTIS NEWCASTLE have told the Premier League they want Alan Shearer as a coach next season — if Glenn Roeder is allowed to take command. The Premier League announced it would ask the member clubs to vote on whether their own rules should be overturned, enabling Roeder to become boss without his Pro-Licence. But it is the news that the Geordies hope to install Shearer as one of his assistants which is most astonishing. The ambitious plan is unlikely to persuade Shearer, 35, after he hung up his boots last month following a knee injury. He has already vowed to take time out to work on TV, play golf and relax after 18 years as a player and insisted he would not be a coach at Newcastle next season. SunSport has learned the document submitted to the Premier League pleading Roeder’s case includes Shearer in the proposed management team — even though he does not have the Pro-Licence either. Newcastle have suggested a three-man structure will be put in place while Roeder gets his qualifications. They want Roeder as director of football, Shearer as technical director with reserve-team coach Tommy Craig, the only man with the licence, as team manager. Gemmill 46088
I believe this plan includes Lee Clark as reserve team manager as well. What a coaching set-up we're establishing. Why scour the globe when you can scour the NE postcode? "If they're not in my local phonebook then they're not eligible for the job". What a fucking cock. I love the way we're proposing Shearer's role and he hasn't even agreed to it. By the way, Leazes Mag is STILL defending Shepherd on this one. Guest Sima
Why is everyone accepting The Sun as gospel on this one?
Gemmill 46088
To be fair, it's well within the realms of possibility and very believable. I'm not taking it as gospel, but I'd be surprised if it isn't true.
snakehips 0
I don't believe a word of it. tbh. It just seems too far-fetched to be true. Surely this is so mind-bogglingly ridiculous to be nothing more than a made up story? Surely? SURELY?
Gemmill 46088
What's far fetched about it? It sounds completely believable to me.
snakehips 0
What's far fetched about it? It sounds completely believable to me. 131883[/snapback] To make an application for Roeder's appointment, by waiving the rules is one thing. To include, on the same submission, proposals for Shearer to be included is absolute fantasy - the FA couldn't give a flying fuck who we appoint as assistant or coach or tea lady for that matter! All the FA are interested in is the application for the rules to be bent for Roeder - nothing else. Why on earth would NUFC then start wittering on about irrelevances that don't concern the club this week - let alone next year. The story is bollix

Shall I even open it, or just fling it in the bin and tell him no.......hold on, let's have a look for a laugh....*opens envelope*.....Glenn Roeder......UEFA Pro Licencse.....blah blah.....dispensation....blah......*GASPS!!* ALAN SHEARER?!!!? Lads, we're gonna have to give this one a bit more thought. Cancel all your meetings for the day!"
Scottish Mag 3
Aye its as far fetched as paying Blackburn compansation for a manager they were on the verge of sacking as they had found out how inept a manager he was, wait a minute....

Gemmill 46088
What was the deadline last season? Is it likely to be before this AGM on June 3rd? I reckon you'll have a canny few not renewing until the manager situation is resolved.
