FAPL deny Roeder

Now that England is out the way, what is stopping us getting O'Neill? Shepherd himself is the only plausible explanation.

Exactly. Shepherd, and quite possibly (probably) his lack of desire for a long term manager because of his fixation with Shearer. He doesn't want someone to come along and try to build a dynasty or someone with anything even vaguely resembling a long term plan (which is what any manager worth his salt will want to do) because it interferes with his plans for appointing Shearer.

maybe he [correctly] isn't convinced by the merits of winning the joke league and being good in front of a camera, or his committment to the job because of his wifes health ?

Maybe he offered O'Neill the job and he turned us down.

Much more plausible. The question is why. Not Shepherd's reputation by any chance?

The League Managers Association chairman has stated on Sky Sports News that he has been in contact with over 80% of league managers and asked them what they thought of the situation. All of the managers asked stated they beleived it to be wrong if Roeder got the job as this would undermine the reason the rule was put in place for. To keep high standards in managing Premiership clubs.

I had to pick up on this quote from Oliver:

But they are less impressed by the League Managers Association and their chairman Howard Wilkinson who have continue to oppose Roeder's appointment.

Wilkinson seems to forget that the reason he is remembered in the North East was that he was sacked after failing miserably as manager of Sunderland.

:D

What does that even mean? And what relevance does it have to the situation?

It's got to a stage where Oliver looks like he's trying to out-do himself every day. "What can I say today that'll be even more ridiculous than what I said yesterday?"

Him and Taylor27 should get together.

Aye the LMA would say that. However the votes will be cast by chairmen and I believe a lot of it will be down to diplomacy rather than their own personal views.

Brilliant isn't he. He's like a spoilt kid lashing out at anyone who won't let his mate Freddy get his way.

"Yeah, well....you.....you got Sunderland relegated! Ha! What are you gonna say now Wilkypoopants?"

No consideration given to the fact that all Wilkinson is doing is saying "Hey lads. There are rules. We set them a while ago. And if it's not too much trouble to you lot up there in Geordieland, we'd like you to stick to them."

Agreed. I'm utterly sick of some of the crettins associated with our club. Shepherd, Oliver, Beresford and now Twaddle. Then there's half the pundits on the BBC etc.
