Shearergol 0
Eh? 130965 If you're too much of a mong not to understand English I'm afraid I can't help you. 130968 Having not seen your reply last night, or seen the relevance of your comment regarding my online status, that's pretty much the only reply which summed up what I wanted to say. Shearergol 0
Noticed none of you have any reason why Lampard is better than Gerrard...... 130971 Better goalscorer, better passer, more vision, less selfish, more of a team player, better hair etc etc For fucks sake man, you can't actually "prove" an opinion. What makes your opinion right?
Guest alex
Noticed none of you have any reason why Lampard is better than Gerrard...... 130971 I never said he was. Lampard is more consistent though. Gerrard at his best (like the first half of this season) is awesome. Gerrard is more versatile too. I think Gerrard lets himself down sometimes when he plays (for England in particular) as he tries to play too many killer balls and gives possession away too cheaply. He gets away with it in the Premier League but against international teams you might have to wait 5 minutes to get the ball back when you give it away. I'm all for playing them both for England though with a Carrick type player sitting in. What's your view?

What's your view? 130978 In my view to totally get the best out of either Lampard or Gerrard you can't afford to play them both in a 4 man midfield, you need, like you say, someone sitting in. But if England want to play a 4 man midfield, Lampard has to make way because in a similar role Gerrard is the better player. It's all very well saying Gerrard is shit for England but that is because he is burdened with the more holding role and given less freedom. Craig 6700
Sima detests Chelsea as much as Gol likes Lampard - there's never gonna be a winner in this one tbh Would be interesting to see how the argument would have transpired if Gerrard had signed for the blues though... Interesting that you point out that it is Gerrard who has to conceed and play out of postion mind. Surely if Gerrard was the better player in that position, he'd get the nod? Just think he does give the ball away too much. The other side of the coin is that when he sees a killer pass early he tries to play it and 2-3 times a match it will come off. If he could get the balance right he'd be unbelievably good. I quite like the idea of him playing either on the right or the left of a midfield diamond. I'd like to see him play right instead of Beckham in that formation but Sven would be far more likely to drop Cole. I actually think he will play both in a 4-4-2 though with Beckham and Cole. I don't know how many people I have said it to, they both can't play in the centre of a four man midfield. Nah, the reason why Gerrard doesn't get the nod in the more attacking role is that Lampard is so inferior to Gerrard in the defensive aspect. Shearergol 0
Simply put; you cannot leave the best goalscoring midfielder in England out of the England team, especially with Rooney missing.

To me "top class" = world class = being able to get into a world xi or make the bench. Then again, anyone that scores 5 goals a season to certain people is "world class"
Guest alex
That's a pretty narrow definition of top class like. I'd definitely say Owen was top class.
