Jose Mourinho is ready aid Sven Goran Eriksson by wrapping his England stars in cotton wool.

Chelsea secured up their second straight title with victory over Manchester United on Saturday, two games before the end of the campaign.

With the title in the bag, Mourinho is ready to tackle Blackburn and Newcastle in the final two games of the season without his big guns.

John Terry, Frank Lampard and Joe Cole are likely to be given a breather, which is sure to be music to the ears of Eriksson who is sure to still be reeling from Wayne Rooney's injury.

"My relationship with Sven is very good," said the Portuguese. "I said to him: 'If you want my players to finish after we've played Manchester United, they will finish then'.

"I gave him that choice. I'm ready to help England if they think it is a help. I'm ready to let them finish for the season now, to have one more week to rest or have a holiday or go to some paradise."

Terry damaged his ankle against Manchester United, but Mourinho does not expect the rugged defender to miss this summer's spectacular in Germany.

"I know he was hurt but it's not the kind of injury that is a problem for the future," said Mourinho. "The problem was the pain. Some people have a very low pain threshold and others have it very high.

"When I look forward to the World Cup I think the English players are in very, very, very good condition."

Mourinho's focus is already shifting to next season and he has taken a swipe at the fixture list, with his comments sure to be a worry to the organisers of the traditional curtain raiser - the Charity Shield.

"I am very worried about the pre-season because that is a disgraceful situation," he added.

"The players come from the World Cup and cannot have a proper holiday.

"They come back to us and two weeks later have to play in the Charity Shield. The Charity Shield will not be a competition for us to win. It is simply a training match.

"One week later The Premiership starts but between the Charity Shield and the first day of The Premiership, international matches!"

Owen won't risk himself next Sunday, he'll get sharpness in England's friendlies instead
