curry stained pilchard 0
I've tried to find the official info on the tinternet but to no avail. Judging by other threads on here, there's conflicticting information i.e. finishing 6th in league could mean diddly squat if the smogs with the uefa cup. The way I see it at the mo is... 1st to 4th - champions league/uefa cup 5th and 6th - uefa cup (6th because Manure won the Carling Cup) It's only the piggin' freaks down the road getting into the final that's hoying a cat amongst rats with wings, as I see it... wykikitoon 20798
To be honest its not the smogs fault, its bloody UEFA not having a strong, simple set of rules!

Gemmill 46088
From what I can gather we are allowed a maximum of 8 teams in European competition. 4 of them come from the CL, so we can discount those, and the remaining 4 if Boro don't win the UEFA Cup, would be as follows: League: 5th and 6th place 7th place is an Intertoto spot which would lead to UEFA. FA Cup: Runner up (winner under normal circumstances BUT! If Boro win the UEFA Cup then it goes as follows: UEFA Cup Winner: Boro League: 5th place. 6th place is an Intertoto spot which would lead to UEFA. FA Cup: Runner Up. SO! 7th place gets you nowt and 6th only gets you Intertoto if the mutant pigs win the UEFA Cup. FACT! (I think)
Kid Dynamite 7182
our best shot looks to be boro losing the cup and us finishing 7th then to get into the intertoto. unless blackburn have a terrible week. Kid Dynamite 7182
also id imagine if 7th placed team hadnt applied for the intertoto it would go to the next team who had, as long as that team was in the top half of the table? or is it top 12? Gemmill 46088
NSG on N-O reckons Blackburn didn't apply for the Intertoto. Which would mean we could potentially finish 8th and still get Intertoto (assuming Bolton finished 6th and Blackburn 7th, which is unlikely). Can anyone confirm that?? DanTheMan 0
Is the UEFA Cup holders spot not an additional place? So surely whether Boro win it or not, top 6 in the league qualify. Simply if Boro win it, they get a place for themselves. Or am I wrong?

So that has to come out of one of the spots we have.
Dr Kenneth Noisewater 0
All of a sudden the Arsenal-deny-Spurs-CL-qualification scenario doesn't seem so funny as we could end up in the same situation with the UEFA.

I'll start a game of FM tonight as Sevilla, and set up a series of pre-season friendlies against the mutants, and let you know how I do. I can't think of a more scientific way to predict the outcome of the final than that.

Just heard on talksport they've got two wingers who like to get chalk on their boots and a hatchet man in midfield, they reckon they'll be too strong for the Toxic Avengers. But the current regulations state following: 1.07 If the UEFA Cup title-holders are not eligible to take part in either of the 2005/06 UEFA club competitions, the UEFA Administration may, at the request of the association of the club concerned, admit this club to the 2005/06 UEFA Cup. Its participation will not be at the expense of the contingent of its associations. (Those bastids from UEFA have protected the pdf so I couldn't do a copy&paste job and had to f***ing type this! ) I also haven't found any regulation saying that associations are not allowed to enter more than 8 teams to the competitions. What would happen if England won two additional places via the Intertoto Cup and fair play table? And I watched glimpses of the game between Sevilla and Schalke yesterday. Kanoute is injured currently. They still have Saviola and small neat playmaker Navas (sp?), but I think the final will be pretty open.
DanTheMan 0
The response I got from Bert K, UEFA guru. 'No, they will take the TH spot, enter directly in R1 and England will, in this way, get an extra team in UEFA Cup. Unlike CL, in UEFA Cup there's no limit concerning the number of teams from one country.' TH = title holders. They is obviously Middlesbrough. curry stained pilchard 0
Looks like dot com has the answers... ...Intertoto qualification now goes to the seventh position team. While West Ham can theoretically get there, it's now down to a straight fight between us and Bolton... Edited May 3, 2006 by Fat Boy
