Its actually a law now that something like that be shown on camera to make geordies look like braindead charvas as often as possible!

 

To be fair its blatantly obvious that sky (or whoever) film a load of interviews with fans and then instantly bin any that feature eloquent, intelligent fans who sound normal and leave in the footage of fuckwitt charvas and those freaks that only ever seem to surface when an NUFC story breaks.

A huge betting plunge saw Glenn Roeder today backed into odds-on favourite for the Newcastle manager's job - but the Premier League continues to insist that he lacks the necessary qualifications to take the job.

Roeder, who has led Newcastle to the brink of a Uefa Cup place as caretaker boss, only has his Uefa A licence - not the Pro Licence, required under Premier League rules, to manage in the Premiership.

 

 

Today's Evening Chronicle reports that Newcastle are planning to ask for special dispensation, given that Roeder was half-way through a Pro Licence course when he was manager of West Ham before the discovery of a brain tumour forced him to take time away from football.

But a Premier League spokesman told Guardian Unlimited that the rules were clear. "As things stand, Glenn Roeder would not be able to take charge of Newcastle United without his Pro Licence," he said.

 

Other reports have suggested that Roeder would be able to complete his Pro Licence in the summer, but the Football Association says that Roeder will need to complete the full one-year course again.

 

An FA spokesman said: "The Pro Licence is an in-depth one-year course, not just a piece of paper. The next intake begins in June 2006, and won't finish until July 2007.

 

"The course involves residential tuition in June and January, plus 240 hours of distance learning, club visits and conference calls. It's not something that can be completed over the summer."

 

Meanwhile Newcastle chairman Freddy Shepherd has stressed that no decision on the club's new manager has been made - despite the Chronicle reporting that Roeder will be offered the job.

 

Shepherd told Newcastle's website, www.nufc.co.uk "I am aware of reports circulating today but the club will not be making any comment on them. We haven't ruled anyone in, or out, as far as things go.

 

"When we have something to say on the matter we will make an official announcement."

Glenn Roeder may look like a trapped weasel with an addiction to

sherbert lemons, but you can't argue with his record at Newcastle.

Since becoming caretaker boss, he's led a side with more holes in it

than Willem Dafoe in Platoon to 10 wins from 15 games, with barely a

ricket from Jean-Alain Boumsong and Titus Bramble (although

admittedly that's because they've been either injured or left on the

bench). And Roeder's reward for this sterling performance? An

impending offer of the full-time position, according to today's

way-aying, Newky Brown Evening Chronicle!

 

"Saturday's victory, albeit against a very poor West Brom side,

finally convinced the United board they have to give Roeder his

chance," explained the paper's chief football writer, Alan Oliver.

"When United opened their offices yesterday they were inundated with

text messages demanding that Roeder be given the job and Freddy

Shepherd knows that the support in the dressing room could hardly be

stronger." No wonder, then, that Roeder's odds have plunged faster

than Shepherd's popularity after he was caught calling Geordie women

"dogs" in a cheap Spanish bordello.

 

For the moment, however, Shepherd is keeping his cards close to his

flabby man-bre@sted chest, telling Newcastle's website: "I am aware

of reports but the club will not be making any comment," he

commented. "We haven't ruled anyone in or out," he continued,

commenting again. And he's probably right, too, because no one yet

knows whether Roeder's lack of a Pro Licence - a requirement for

Premiership managers (unless you're Lord Ferg, among others) - will

preclude him from taking the job. According to the Chronicle,

Newcastle hope to get round this by asking the FA for special

dispensation, because Roeder was halfway through his studies when he

developed a brain tumour. Whether they'll get it is another matter.

I was listening to Metro this morning and apparently something was mentioned yesterday morning about Roeder taking over. It was a complete rumour that got out of hand and spread like wildfire, making the news on SSN and the papers, but they've said this morning how it was nothing more than a rumour.
